A vision of an oasis strikes the traveler as he sees for the first time the magnificent beauty of the Karoo. Beautiful green lands and a forest of Poplar trees lie just below Wolwefontein Lodge. Judy Rous, your gracious hostess, manages the guesthouse and prepares all the meals. She is also a believer in spending time with her guests. Her wonderful tales of Wolwefontein's rich history and life on the magical farm is sure to enchant guests.

Accommodation at Wolwefontein Lodge consists of five very spacious rooms and one separate flat called The Kudu Cottage. Each room has its own en-suite bathroom or a private bathroom. All have comfortable beds with crispy sheets for a restful slumber. The Eagle and Guinea Fowl rooms can accommodate families of up to four each, Lion room is a bedroom for two and Nguni and Elephant are two cozy bedrooms with fireplaces which sleep two or three respectively. Each unit has its own entrance, braai area and self catering cupboard with microwave, bar fridge and cutlery and crockery. The rooms also have TV's with DSTV hotel package, fans and electric blankets.
Kudu cottage is a separate flat situated in the garden of the main house. It has a bedroom with queen size bed, shower en suite and a little lounge. TV with full DSTV package, self catering cupboard with microwave, bar fridge, tiny stove and cutlery and crockery. It has a veranda with braai area overlooking the swimming pool. The bedroom also has a fan and electric blanket on the bed.

Breakfast is full English consisting of cereal, yoghurt, fruit (when available), bacon and eggs. Breakfast is served in the diningroom at the guest house. Although Judy does not serve dinner anymore, she can supply readymade meals or braai packs.

The large area of the lodge lulls one into a feeling of utmost tranquility and oneness with nature. At Wolwefontein Lodge, children will always be gleefully occupied by fun things to do. There are little orphan lambs to feed most of the year and sometimes even a baby buck. Mares and their foals start to frolic nearby from August and if you are lucky you might see a foaling mare.

Wolwefontein is strategically located for day trips of the outlying areas. Graaf-Reinet is a charming town rich with history and is only 160 km away. The Owl House is only about a100 km away.
Although there is a lovely pool in the garden at the main house, if you want a very refreshing swim, why not take a dip in the reservoir near the stables? The reservoir's fresh cold water is replaced daily by the nearby windmill as the animals' water troughs are filled as well ensuring nature's absolute freshness.

Experience the magical farm life only at Wolwefontein Lodge as we breed Thoroughbred Racehorses, Arabian horses, Nguni cattle, dual-purpose Merino sheep, various game and also our very precious meerkat gang, Toeksie, Tinky, Teddy and Buttons.

Please note smoking is not allowed in the lodge itself, however feel free to smoke outside in the garden away from open doors or windows as our lodge is non smoking zone. Please discard of the cigarette butts appropriately :)

Breakfast for kids under 2 is charged at a fee of R50, please book in advance.

We spent one night with our two dogs on the 30th November at Wolwefontein Lodge in the Kudu suite. Comfortable and clean and welcomed by Judy. Enjoyed a good breakfast and coffee with our host Judy the next morning before departing for St Francis. Will go back on future travels. David Harpur.

Nice in the country-side away from the noise of the road, a good clean, fresh & comfortable venue, a Bird Watchers dream, so many it took us two hours to get away the next morning, definately worth a return visit if coming back that way.
