WHY THE HIGHLANDS MEANDER?
Situated in the Highveld Grassland of the Mpumalanga Province, the area has become increasingly popular due to its scenic beauty, and suggests rest and relaxation. Falling within the Highveld's borders, it is sometimes associated with the greater Lowveld because of its proximity to that area. Belfast generally has a moderate climate with clear, yet often misty summers and crisp, cold mountain winters.
Popular activities in the area range from trout fishing, of which the nearby Dullstroom is probably South Africa's headquarters, as well as hiking, birding, off-road driving and various cultural activities, such as exploring the Lowveld Meander R540 route.
Rapids Country and Eco Estate is therefore ideally located to make use of all the available natural resources while also complementing the variety of tourist activities and facilities.
A key focal point of this resort will be to develop it in unison with the local environmental sensitivities in order to maintain an environment that enhances the health and wellbeing of its visitors and local residents.
BELFAST IS BEST
Greater Belfast lies between 1 750m and 2 000m above sea level, and its sub-alpine climate makes it unique to South Africa. The town of Belfast is also experiencing rapid growth with a new shopping centre and a few new residential settlements in the pipeline for development.
Belfast is also conveniently situated alongside major routes that link the town with important tourist destinations such as Dullstroom, Lydenburg and Sabie as well as Waterval Boven, Nelspruit and the Kruger National Park.
