Area Information:

Velddrif is close to many interesting destinations: Lamberts Bay, Elands Bay, Dwarskersbos, St. Helena Bay, Paternoster, Saldanha Bay, and Langebaan. Velddrif is affectionately known as the 'Bokkom Capital of the West Coast', and our own Bokkomlaan has a unique setting on the bank of the Berg River, and is where the bokkoms are prepared, and sold, while Port Owen, a suburb of Velddrif, has their own monthly market.
There are several restaurants in the area, and 'birders' will see a large selection of birds. The West Coast Fossil Farm is a mere 20kms away. The West Coast National Park is approximately 40kms away, near Langebaan. Hopefield, where one can visit the home of bee products, is also approximately 40kms away, while Piketberg and their monthly fresh produce market is 60kms away.

Velddrif is the ideal 'base camp' during the flower season in August/September, and dolphins and whales are often seen in the bay near the ore carriers. Snoek lovers often catch their quota in the months without an 'r' in it! (June and July are the best months, and Yellowtail are often caught in the same bay!!)
Come and visit, and see what else is on offer, as there is plenty more!

Wow! What a nice weekend we had. Marie and her husband are the most friendly hosts you could wish for. The unit was a gem, with everything you need for an enjoyable stay. With direct Access to the river, we enjoyed sun downers on the private jetty. Lovely quiet neighborhood, very relaxed atmosphere. I will definitely come again.

What an amazing accommodation.
Everything from booking to departure went smoothly.

Aloe Aloe was beyond what we expected spent 2 nights which was amazing, Marie really went beyond herself to make us feel comfortable and welcome.

Everyone was so friendly even the neighbors would greet every morning while we had coffee on the jetty.

Our stay at Aloe Aloe was fantastic. The warm hug we received from Marie made us feel welcomed. The place is neat and has all the facilities needed for your stay and close to restaurants and shops. I will definitely come and stay here again if I'm in Port Owen. It's highly recommended.

A good place to explore the west coast from as it’s setting is great on the marina. The marina is definitely the best place to stay. Gorgeous views and sunsets on the water. Russell’s on the Port for sundowners or a meal and Charlie’s brewery are really great- both in the Marina. The marina is definitely the place to stay in the area and I can recommend a few easily accessible trips from there. Alegria restaurant en route to St Helena is great and has a fantastic seaside setting. Really gorgeous.A visit to Hopefield to Simply bee is well worth it to buy their products as well as have a coffee and a cake or savoury board. It also has a beauty salon and bee observation and decor shop. There is also a quaint restaurant next door called Hello. It’s a quaint little town with a few shops to browse- don’t miss the craft shop with dolls house miniatures that are amazing. A day trip to Paternoster is also worth the drive as it has lots of shops to visit and a good few restaurants, galleries and coffee shops. Just be careful of opportunists. All the towns are roughly 20-30 minutes away so an easy drive. All in all we enjoyed the area.
