Set above the flood plain of the Komati River, the restaurant, bar and pool facilities, and the individual chalets and cottages are no more than fifty meters from the water’s edge where pods of hippos and an array of spectacular bird life will entertain for hours on end.

The attention to detail and hands on management style of this family owned property ensure that Komati River Chalets is the ideal destination for the adventurous traveller.
There are fourteen chalets either with twin or double bed configurations. The rooms are spacious and an extra single bed can be facilitated in each room on request for either a third person or children sharing basis. A surcharge is applicable for this service.

The chalets are tastefully decorated, comfortable and a home away from home atmosphere pervades.
The six family cottages are spacious, comfortable and perfect for family groups or couples travelling together.

The family cottages each consist of two bedrooms, both with en suite bathrooms, and both bedrooms lead into a spacious central open plan lounge and kitchen.
Property Facilities:
Restaurant and Bar:
The restaurant is open daily for breakfast and dinner with dining areas both indoors and outdoors overlooking the gardens. The menu is simple and offers a variety of homely dishes for its patrons. A children's menu is available for hassle free family dining. The bar adjacent the restaurant is open from mid afternoon allowing guests the opportunity to sit back relax and enjoy a well earned sun downer.

Pool:
A non-heated swimming pool is situated in front of the restaurant and bar and is for exclusive use of in house guests of Komati River Chalets.

Volleyball Court:
A volley ball court is situated between the river and the chalets for all to enjoy. In house guests can obtain volley ball from reception.

For the kids:
Spend some time with your kids in the pool or playing volley ball. A jungle gym is also provided on site for our younger guests.

Parking:
Parking is provided for directly adjactent to your chalet or cottage for your convenience. Should anything larger then a small-to-meduim size trailor be in tow then reception must please be informed and consulted about additional parking required for large trailors or boats in tow.

Security:
Komati River Chalets is situated on 12 acres of privately owned land. The 12 acre estate is enclosed by an electrified security fence. There are also security guards patrolling the property from sun set to sun up for our guests convenience and safety. Please be aware that the estate is a wilderness area and hippo's often come up from the river to the estate gardens in the evenings to graze. Crocodiles are resident in the Komati River so no swimming in the river is permitted at any time.

Pets:
Komati River Chalets regrets to inform that no visiting pets are allowed at the establishment. Tammy - Australian cattle dog cross, Impi - Staffie, and some tame guini fowl call Komati River Chalets their home. Guests are welcome to interact with our pets as they are friendly but it would not be fair to all concerned if outside pets were brought onto the property.

Area Information:
The famous Kruger National Park, Crocodile bridge gate is a mere 12km from the lodge and the sweet veld grasses of the South Eastern Kruger National Park ensure that this is arguably the best game viewing area of the entire park as vast herds of plains game and predators alike are attracted to the spoils of this pristine area.

Both Mozambique and Swaziland are but a stone throw from Komati River Chalets providing the perfect base from which to explore both exotic destinations.

Attractions:
River Walks:
The Komati River itself is no more the 50 metres from any of the chalets and cottages. A thick riverside forest occurs all along the river banks. There are numerous path ways through the beautiful age old indigenous tree forest sporting beautiful views of the Komati River and some of its animal and bird life. The river is the home to wild crocodile and hippos so care must be taken at all times when walking in the forest.

Bird Watching:
There are over 500 bird species on offer in the area, and due to the river frontage some of Africa's finest water birds and fowl are local residents. (Be sure to pack your binoculars!)

Fishing:
The Komati River is home to numerous species of fresh water fish. The most famous of these species is the Tiger Fish, due to its supreme game fish status as Africa's best fresh water fighting fish. There are various well positioned spots all along the river front on the property for keen anglers! Other species that can be caught from the property are Mozimbique Bream (Blue Kurper), Red breasted bream, Mudfish, Catfish and carp. (Bring your own tackle!)

It was exceptional, we will definately go back aagain next year June. The set up is good and for a charlet to have comfortable beds, showers in every rooms and swimming pool just to name few its just classy. The only thing i think they can improve is their bedding ( blankets under the duvet are not nice).

Perfect stay if you're on your way from Jo'burg to Mozambique.
The border is only a few hunderd meters away, so you have the whole next day to travel there.

The staff is very helpful and friendly. The place was clean and had all the basics. Nice to have a pool and onsite bar, and be on the river. Very close to Kruger and the roads to Swazi and Mozambique.

Lovely place. The chalet we stayed in had 2 very large bedrooms. Kitchen well equipped. Only problem we had was the coal trains rumbling throughout the night, which disturbed our sleep. We were also alarmed one night by what we thought was a veld fire very close by, which turned out to be sugar cane burning. We were told that this is a normal event before harvesting. The chalets all have thatched roofs, so we were a bit worried.
