Set above the flood plain of the Komati River, the restaurant, bar and pool facilities, and the individual chalets and cottages are no more than fifty meters from the water’s edge where pods of hippos and an array of spectacular bird life will entertain for hours on end.
The attention to detail and hands on management style of this family owned property ensure that Komati River Chalets is the ideal destination for the adventurous traveller.
There are fourteen chalets either with twin or double bed configurations. The rooms are spacious and an extra single bed can be facilitated in each room on request for either a third person or children sharing basis. A surcharge is applicable for this service.
The chalets are tastefully decorated, comfortable and a home away from home atmosphere pervades.
The six family cottages are spacious, comfortable and perfect for family groups or couples travelling together.
The family cottages each consist of two bedrooms, both with en suite bathrooms, and both bedrooms lead into a spacious central open plan lounge and kitchen.

Komati River Chalets is situated on 12 acres of privately owned land. The 12 acre estate is enclosed by an electrified security fence. There are also security guards patrolling the property from sun set to sun up for our guests convenience and safety. Please be aware that the estate is a wilderness area and hippo's often come up from the river to the estate gardens in the evenings to graze. Crocodiles are resident in the Komati River so no swimming in the river is permitted at any time.
Komati River Chalets regrets to inform that no visiting pets are allowed at the establishment. Tammy - Australian cattle dog cross, Impi - Staffie, and some tame guini fowl call Komati River Chalets their home. Guests are welcome to interact with our pets as they are friendly but it would not be fair to all concerned if outside pets were brought onto the property.
The famous Kruger National Park, Crocodile bridge gate is a mere 12km from the lodge and the sweet veld grasses of the South Eastern Kruger National Park ensure that this is arguably the best game viewing area of the entire park as vast herds of plains game and predators alike are attracted to the spoils of this pristine area.
Both Mozambique and Swaziland are but a stone throw from Komati River Chalets providing the perfect base from which to explore both exotic destinations.

The Komati River itself is no more the 50 metres from any of the chalets and cottages. A thick riverside forest occurs all along the river banks. There are numerous path ways through the beautiful age old indigenous tree forest sporting beautiful views of the Komati River and some of its animal and bird life. The river is the home to wild crocodile and hippos so care must be taken at all times when walking in the forest.
There are over 500 bird species on offer in the area, and due to the river frontage some of Africa's finest water birds and fowl are local residents. (Be sure to pack your binoculars!)
The Komati River is home to numerous species of fresh water fish. The most famous of these species is the Tiger Fish, due to its supreme game fish status as Africa's best fresh water fighting fish. There are various well positioned spots all along the river front on the property for keen anglers! Other species that can be caught from the property are Mozimbique Bream (Blue Kurper), Red breasted bream, Mudfish, Catfish and carp. (Bring your own tackle!)
