Kitu Kiblu  Verified Listing

The Kitukiblu property is on an old cashewnut and coconut farm with remnant coastal forest. We still have the sykes mangebe and elephant shrew in the surrounding bush. There is 200m of beach front. We have six stilt houses and two dorms for the internship program. It is within walking distance from the main town Kilindoni.

Safari Tents in thatched stilt houses on the beach. Each has electrical charge points, lights and fans. Bathrooms and toilets are shared. There is a balcony area with sea view and canvas chairs. Each house has hand washing facilities. There is a common dining room and an additional seafront lounge area and the BOATSHED beach bar with fabulous sunset views and cold beers

Mafia Island is part of Tanzania's Mafia Archipelago, in the Indian Ocean. Large swaths of the island's southern coastline and surrounding waters are protected by the Mafia Island Marine Park. Within the park are many coral reefs. In the south, beaches include secluded Ras Kisimani, just across from Bwejuu Island. Popular Utende Beach edges onto Chole Bay.

Kitu Kiblu runs half-day encounter trips allowing visitors to interact with whale sharks in a safe, relaxed and respectful way. The encounter trips are launched from the KituKiblu Beach Lodge, Kilindoni, Mafia Island. We run internship programs, for those with an interest in marine conservation looking to gain skills and experience working at sea.
