African Relish Cottages provide more than just comfortable rooms. Beautiful, restored cottages with garden, kitchen, lounge and spacious en suite bathrooms typify Karoo living. All cottages are a minimum of 90 sq meters to allow comfortable, long term stays. Cottages are not on the same premises as the Cooking school, deli and restaurant.

In Room Facilities:

The cottages are fully equipped for self catering and even a gourmet chefs will find enough to produce a great meal. The beds can be single or King size and all bathrooms are en suite. There is air conditioning in the bedrooms and the beds have percale linen.

Area Information:

African Relish is set in Prince Albert, an historic village developed in the early 19th century. It is at the base of the spectacular Swartberg Pass and the gateway between the Karoo and the Garden route. It is semi desert but the town enjoys a bountiful water supply and boasts beautiful, verdant gardens.

Property Facilities:

The swimming pool is at the cooking school and can be used by the cottage guests. All cottages have private gardens and braai facilities and outside seating on the verandas.

Attractions:

The town is enjoying significant growth as a foodie destination with African Relish at the helm of this movement. It is SA's most prolific producer of figs and becoming a major player in olive oil production. Book a foodie tour or a half or full day cooking class with African Relish. Our Chef's Cafe is always very popular and open from Tuesday to Saturday from 16:00 to 21:00. We also have a Deli for light meals, interesting pantry items, braai packs and salads.

Peace and quiet; feeling of safety; good clean air. We attended a wonderful photographic course with Louis Botha.

The variety of things to do from hiking to cycling down a mountain, wine tasting, general relaxing in the various restaurant / gift shops. HIGHLIGHT SWARTBERG PASS!

Prince Albert is a lovely little town at the foot of the Swartberg Mountains.
What struck me in particular is how clean the streets are and the friendliness of the locals.
We went to a movie in “The Showroom” and were surprised to find such an amazing Art deco gem in the middle of the Karoo. “The Showroom” boasts state-of-the-art theatre and cinema equipment, making it suitable to facilitate and attract some of the country’s top performers.

Superb. 5 out of 5
