The booking experience through Afristay was flawless and quick. The cottage isn't quite as described in the overall description as it isn't as private as made out to be, the other cottage is rather close by and the splash pool is shared, so if anyone enjoys the pool from the other cottages you will be aware of it while sitting on your 'stoep'. Not that it was a problem but I think it should be mentioned. Also, since load shedding is a problem, it would be convenient to have more than one candle holder, we used our empty wine bottles as holders since we don't regularly travel with candle holders. There were two oil lamps but only the one worked. The bath wasn't usable at all since the water trickles out of the warm water tap, I think this is important to mention since it is listed as a feature. The bath towels were a delight to use though and I can imagine that in Summer the cottage will be an excellent choice. We enjoyed our stay very much despite the few 'irritations'.

Lovely little gem of a town. Lots of things to do, eateries and little shops and galleries to visit. At the base of the most spectacular mountain pass in all Africa.

The charm and character of this town impressed me. The Karoo gardens are beautiful and there are interesting local products for sale. I recommend the book shop in Marlene's home.
