Just 90 minutes from Cape Town, the silence, peace and tranquillity of a visit to this Cape Wine lands farm stay will leave you feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. Eikelaan Farm self-catering Cottages are full equipped and spotlessly clean. The cottages have indoor fireplaces and are equipped with air-conditioning. Farm guests are welcome to enjoy walks in the fynbos, observing birdlife, amazing sunsets across the Tulbagh Valley and the star-gazing is highly recommended.

In Room Facilities:

Each cottage has an indoor fireplace making for cosy winters in a corner of the world where snow on the nearby mountains isn't uncommon. On the other hand, if you're dropping in during the summer months, you'll be thrilled to know the units have aircon and overhead fans, as well as easy access to a swimming pool and shady lapa.

Area Information:

An ideal country getaway... The charming historical town of Tulbagh is in the wine lands of the Boland in the Western Cape Province, South Africa. Part of the Witzenberg municipal region, immediate neighbouring towns are Gouda, Wolseley, Ceres and Prince Alfred's Hamlet. Towns such as Wellington, Malmesbury, Paarl, Franschhoek, Riebeek Valley, Piketberg, Porterville, Rawsonville, Worcester and Stellenbosch are within three quarters of an hour's drive from the valley and Cape Town is only 120km distant. The valley was first discovered by European settlers in 1658 and land grants were made to 14 farming families in 1700. The town itself was developed in 1743 when the museum church was built. Post the 1969 earthquake every historic home in Church Street was painstakingly restored to its original glory. These 32 buildings now constitute the largest concentration of National Monuments in a single street in South Africa. The town is situated at the northern end of the beautiful Tulbagh valley, which is almost completely surrounded by majestic mountain ranges - the Obiqua mountains to the west, the towering Winterhoek on the northern end and the Witzenberg on the eastern side. The Great Winterhoek mountains tower 2077m above sea level and are picturesquely snow capped in winter.

Property Facilities:

Eikelaan is a working farm. We farm with vines, olives, grain and sheep. As you can gather there is an abundance of activity on the farm. We are situated 5km from the historic town of Tulbagh and 90 minutes from Cape Town off the R46. The farm is 200 Hectares in size and is surrounded by the Witzenberg and Winterhoek Mountain Ranges. The farm offers accommodation in the form of self-catering cottages. It offers you the opportunity to re-charge your batteries by breaking away from reality for a totally relaxing and rejuvenating stay in the scenic surroundings.

Attractions:

There is an abundance of activities in and around the Witzenberg Valley. Ceres Golf Club and the Ceres Zip Slide are a 20 min drive from the farm. Enjoy a pampering at local spa's or book a relaxing massage in the comfort of your cottage. Magnificent horse riding trails just 5 minutes from Eikelaan. Scenic tractor rides, including picnics on nearby farms. Cyclists are welcome to bring their bikes for wonderful scenic trips around the valley. A visit to our local wineries and exploring the Tulbagh Wine Route is highly recommended. Hikers can enjoy walks on the farm. The historical town of Tulbagh is situated 5km from the farm. Here you will find coffee shops, restaurants, art galleries and museums. A visit to the famous Church Street with its National Monuments is a must. Guests may also enjoy fishing (catch and release)in our dam.

We found Tulbagh to be close enough to Cape Town for a quick weekend away with family & friends.
Clean town with stunning wine farms, wine tasting and lovely restaurants.

Very picturesque with great hiking, mountain biking trails.

Lots of convenient shops in the town.

Can't wait for our next visit.
