In the North West Province, on the banks of the Vaal River, lies the farm Kromdraai.
Here you will find, nestled neatly in the unspoilt bush…..away from the hustle and bustle of the city, an ideal “breakaway” log cabin.
Fish Eagle Log Cabin is situated in the Vredefort Dome World Heritage area, which is recognised globally as one of the nine world heritage sites in South Africa.
This is where, over 2 000 million years ago, the largest meteorite struck earth to form a crater no less than 300 km in diameter. What is left even to this day, are obvious outcrops of small mountains which ominously evidence the remains of the Vredefort Dome World Heritage meteor sight.
The unit is situated in a totally eco friendly environment as minimal disruption has been done to the environment and sustainable power is generated by way of solar and gas. This means that there are no ESKOM poles or cables to be found on this property.
Lighting in the unit consists of 12 volt solar powered LED globed strategically placed for sufficiency whilst still maintaining the rustic ambiance. Gas fuels the geyser as well as fridge and stove.
The unit is situated on the banks of the Vaal River where there is no passing traffic or noise…..in fact, the only sound you are likely to hear, will be the sound of the river as it cobbles over the rocks or the distinctive cry of the Fish Eagle .
An interesting fact is that the cabin was actually built around the dual stone fireplace which serves both the lounge and main bedroom.
The cabin comprises two private double rooms (one en suite) and two upstairs sleeping areas with two single beds each.
Downstairs:
One main bedroom with either a double bed or 2 single beds, includes en suite bathroom with shower.
Second bedroom with 2 single beds.
Second bathroom with bath.
Upstairs:
2 Private loft rooms each with 2 single beds.
Note: For more than 8 visitors up to 10, we can provide 2 additional mattresses.
