Valley Lakes offers a peaceful family getaway destination. On site we have three cottages that can each sleep eight people. Although they are self catering.l
The units are fully equipped and furnished to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Each cottage has an indoor fireplace, outdoor fire pit and Braai (firewood is sold on site)
As the cottages are reasonably close to each other, it also makes a great destination for large groups of friends to escape the city life and come exploring or fly fishing. We have often hosted family groups having a reunion after years or groups of friends wanting a family holiday together.
We also have an amazing conference and wedding venue with spectacular views, plenty of space and unique photo
opportunities. On the opposite farm is Ndawana River Lodge and Belfast Guest House. Our rustic and quaint Pear Tree Cottage is set on a beautiful farm 16 km away.
Each cottages can sleep eight people and is fully furnished and equipped to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The rooms are tastefully appointed and can be configured to twin or double beds depending on your preference.
The cottages have indoor fire places, outdoor fire pits and Weber braai's with wood sold on site. Belfast Guest House is our luxury house that sleeps 9. Ndawana River Lodge sleeps 8 and Pear Tree Cottage sleeps 4.
The kitchen has all utensils, cutlery and crockery along with toasters, microwaves, kettles and ovens. They are cleaned and serviced daily.
The last town in the southern Drakensberg, Underberg, lies immediately beneath the majestic mountains of this area, their looming greatness offering a multitude of hikes and moments of breathtaking beauty.
Underberg forms part of the Sani Saunter, not as well known as the Midlands Meander perhaps, but offering as many outdoor opportunities and scenery to equal if not challenge the former.
The Sani Saunter extends from Loteni in the north to Bushman’s Nek in the south, and east to Bulwer, including the little town of Underberg and her quaint neighbor, Himeville, just 5 kilometers away, and as its name indicates, there is access to numerous hikes and walks in this part of the world.
The greatest attraction to the twin towns of the southern Drakensberg - Himeville and Underberg - is fly-fishing. There is more opportunity here than anywhere else in the country and the Underberg-Himeville Trout Fishing Club hold rights to over 160 kilometres of river as well as 60 dams - that’s a lot of fishing!
Underberg is a little town, and busy, despite the fact that this part of the district is predominantly farming country. The town of Underberg is pretty functional, although it has grown in the last couple of decades and now includes a number of commercial ventures.
The Splashy Fen Music Festival sees hundreds of people make their way through Underberg and this part of the southern Drakensberg to attend the Easter weekend filled with local music, arts and crafts, food and drink.
We offer birding, trail running and walking and fly fishing.
Lots of space for trail running and mountain biking
Our lake is also very suitable for canoeing and swimming in some areas.
Tours up Sani Pass depart daily from Underberg which is 20 minutes away.

Underberg Reviews
It's far enough away from all the hubub to really feel like you're away from it all but also has a lot available to do if you so wish. The scenery is beautiful and the air is fresh!
Hiking, swimming, relaxing.
If you're in to adventure, then Underberg is the place to visit. There's no shortage of trails for running, hiking and mountain biking. It's close to the Drakensberg and Sani Pass.
Breath-taking beautiful! Well stocked convenience store (Elands Rest) and a few nice restaurants to have coffee. Just very cold, even in Nov.
Scenery in the surroundings.
For us its all about the hiking in the mountains.
