Wakkerstroom Farm Lodge is situated on Farm Saxony, 6km from Wakkerstroom on the South-Eastern Highveld, approximately 250 – 300 kilometers (3 hours) from Johannesburg and Pretoria. Wakkerstroom is a world renowned wetland area, well known for its endemic bird species such as Rudd’s and Botha’s Larks.
Other specialties to be found in the vast grassland include all three Crane species, Ground Woodpecker, Bald Ibis and Blue Korhaan.
The cold winter evenings are spent indoors around the open fire or anthracite stoves. Winter days in Wakkerstroom are crisp but sunny. Summer days seldom reach 27 degrees and offer long luxurious outdoor hours and the best opportunities for observing birds.
