Area Information:Clarens is a small town situated in the foothills of the Maluti Mountains in the Free State province of South Africa and nicknamed the "Jewel of the Eastern Free State". The area is tranquil, but scenic for the guest that prefers the less hurried side of life. It is characterized by low mountains, streams, wide expanse of grasslands, cattle, horses and fresh air. All was wonderful and good.
The dining experience unfortunately not so good.
This was not our first stay at this wonderful and bliss place and we are still blown away with the effect that the food remain 1st class and the spa and its staff some of the best. Thank you for another exceptional stay.

The whole experience was exceptional from arrival. The accommodation facilities were excellent. The staff were incredibly friendly, efficient and professional and nothing was an effort on their part. Had a wonderful dinner and breakfast. Thanks again from The Gauteng Central Seniors tennis team (February 2020 )and see you again next year.
Such a wonderful 1 night stay. Perfectly positioned with beautiful views over Clarens and the nature reserve behind. Had a great run in the nature reserve. It was quiet and the grounds of Il Castello were immaculate. Had a wonderful dinner in the Limoncello restaurant. Staff were helpful and accommodating. Room was a good size and we had a lovely little garden to ourselves.
Fantastic stay - the hotel was exceptional, the staff were extremely friendly and professional. The Shuttle service to town was great and very convenient. Definitely worth going back again.

Small, quaint, but very lively little town with spectacular views all around. Hiking is a must and can be done on the edge of town. We stayed at Views and the hiking trail was on our back door. Beautiful, beautiful little town offering great food, culture, entertainment and beautiful hiking trails.
