Our little farm, in the picturesque Hermitage Valley, is situated just 2km’s outside of Swellendam at the foot of the Langeberg Mountains, an area well known for its spectacular views, tranquillity, abundant outdoor activities and pretty Berry Farms.

The Zaayman Family would love for you to share a little piece of our heaven and stay a while in one of the 4 self-catering cottages on the farm.

All our cottages are very comfortably furnished with all the necessities. You will be glad to know each cottage comes with an essential Braai area. We furthermore appreciate the importance of a good nights rest and therefore all adult beds are equipped with pocket spring mattresses for your sleeping pleasure. Three of our cottages are fitted with free Wi-Fi.

We do allow dogs on the farm should you stay in either River or Rose Cottage. Please just note that these cottages are NOT enclosed and we do hold horses so only very well behaved dogs might apply.

There's much to see and do in and around Swellendam. We really have it all: Horse Trailing, sunset boat cruises on Buffeljagsdam, Mountain Biking Routes, Hiking in Marloth Nature Reserve, Game viewing in the Bontebok National Park,in-season (Nov - Dec) Berry Picking, some of the best restaurants South Africa has to offer and much more.

We are looking forward to welcoming you to paradise.

Area Information:
Swellendam is the 3rd oldest town in South Africa with over 50 national monuments. It also boasts the largest youngberry growing region in South Africa. Enjoy berry picking (Nov – Dec), liqueur tastings, and a variety of historical outings.
Swellendam, has been named after Governor Hendrik Swellengrebel and his wife Helena Ten Damme. In 1795 the residents, who were frustrated at the inadequacies of the company, revolted and declared themselves a Republic, with Hermanus Steyn as President. The Republic was short-lived due to the arrival of British settlers who soon turned Swellendam into a profitable commercial empire. In 2011, the Swellendam Municipality area re-declared itself a Republic dedicated to the principles of the New South Africa; celebrating rural life, racial harmony, and respect for nature and wildlife.
Swellendam is a prosperous agricultural area, known for its Mediterranean climate that makes it an ideal holiday destination all year round.
Swellendam has many historic buildings that serve as a reminder of its exciting past.
Nature lovers will enjoy the plentiful nature reserves around Swellendam, including Marloth Nature Reserve, Sambona Wildlife Reserve, Grootvadersbosch Nature Reserve, and Bontebok National Park. Wildlife in Swellendam includes the endangered Bontebok and Cape Mountain Zebra as well as bushbuck, klipspringer, baboon, mongoose, and the occasional Leopard.
