Aan de Heuvel, our four-star graded cottages, has three exquisite double en-suite cottages boasting stunning views of the Langeberg Mountains. Each cottage has its own private splash pool for families and friends to enjoy a weekend getaway of mid week break. The cottages has fantastic mountain and town views, a warm fireplace, and a sheltered ‘braai’ area next to a small outdoor splash pool & garden. It has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a comfortable sitting area with open plan kitchen. The cottages are situated within walking distance from local attractions, our museum and popular restaurants.

In Room Facilities:

Both bedrooms are furnished with king or twin beds, both with built-in cupboards. There is a sleeper couch in the living room where a child or young adult could sleep. Both rooms have patio doors that open out onto a deck facing the amazing Langeberg Mountains. The en suite bathroom has a shower, basin, and toilet & the guest bathroom the same, but also has a lovely corner bath.

The kitchen is fully equipped including a stove, oven, fridge-freezer, microwave, and tea- and coffee- making facilities. There is a washing machine and tumble dryer for added comfort and convenience.

Area Information:

Aan de Heuvel is situated within walking distance from local attractions, our museum and popular restaurants. We do supply heaps of information in the cottage you can look at to decide what & where to go! Swellendam is steeped in history & offers you, natural beauty with spectacular views.

Property Facilities:

A small garden creates a private and peaceful area to socialize with small outdoor splash pool to cool off in. We have a wheelchair ramp for easy access to the premises.

Attractions:

Swellendam has some of the best cycling routes in the Overberg district. We have spectacular hiking trails, said to be a ‘must’ on any hiker’s bucket list, however they are not for the faint of heart or novice hiker!

During your stay, enjoy our swimming pool, deck and ‘braai’ area with a sundowner in hand for golden hour.

A Historic walk perhaps, for those of you who love history. Our Historic Walk Guide takes you around the national monuments, museum and historic attractions in town.

A 9-hole Golf Course, in excellently maintained, picturesque scenery of the Langeberg Mountains.

Berry Picking and Liquor tasting at the Berry and Wildebraam Farms. The Berry Farm grows youngberries, blackberries and blueberries and during harvest time you can pick your own!
Sport facilities include Hiking, Bowling, Mountain biking, Golf, Running routes and even Horse Riding.

Marloth Nature Reserve is a hidden gem in the majestic Swellendam Mountains. Marloth offers various day trails, ranging from easy, short walks to more strenuous, longer hikes. These trails lead into the shady green indigenous forest, where cool pools and waterfalls wait to be discovered. Day walks are open from sunrise to sunset.

The Swellendam Trails are the property of the municipality and free to access. There are different routes that each offer a vast variety of difficulty, distances, elevation and a lot of fun. Ideal for mountain biking and trail running. Here are some of the popular routes: 33km – 870m climb; 21km – 475m climb; 10km – 236m climb; 5km – 143m climb.

Bontebok Park:
Cape Mountain Zebra, Bird watching, enjoy a walk in the park, Round trip 30km.
De Hoop Nature reserve is approximately 340 square kilometers in area, making it one of the largest natural areas managed by Cape Nature. You’ll be surrounded by the sea, sand dunes, fynbos and mountains. Besides enjoying the breathtaking views, the private beaches and game drive you can discover a wealth of marine, bird, animal and rare plant species. De Hoop Nature Reserve is a 1.5-hour gravel road drive from Swellendam, and definitely worth the drive.

Robertson Wine Valley:
Representing over 50 wineries from the towns including Ashton, Bonnievale McGregor and Robertson. Amongst the leading wine regions of the world, recognized for its wine, experiences and practices.

Cape Agulhas is the southern most point in Africa. Visit the shipwreck museum and Kapula Candles. Round trip of 240km.
Visit Hot springs in Montagu or do a ride with tractor to the top of the mountains. Round trip 260km.

Tradouws Pass is absolutely worth it! Drive through the Langeberg Mountains into the little Karoo. Drive through Suurbraak to Barrydale and back a round trip of 90km. Barrydale offers wonderful experiences, great lunch spots and festivals throughout the year.

Beaches nearby include Infanta, Witsand, Arniston, Struis bay - all roughly an hour and a half’s drive from Swellendam.

I enjoyed Aan De Eike Guesthouse, My room were clean and the service were excellent.I felt very safe enjoyed every moment since I arrived. Swellendam is beautiful with most beautiful views. The location was very convenient and would recommend The Republican Restaurant. The food and vibe were awesome. It's safe to walk in Swellendam, what a beautiful place for entertainment
