We think it is the best angle to view these mountains, and is certainly sure to make for an instagramable moment, as the sun sets behind these beautiful peaks. The Sterkspruit River meanders along the flood plain below the Lodge, offering crystal pools for hikers to cool off during the hot summer months. Most notably is that San Art is present on the property, as this area is stepped in the history of the San and the Nguni people. Two mystical Bush Reserves take hikers into a unique and diverse natural environment. Two hundred year old Yellow Wood trees still grow here. Tree cutting pits used by the Boer settlers can also be seen on the hike to Moonies Pool. We also have easy access to the KZN wildlife hiking trails. Wildlife often spotted on the property include: Klipspringer, Rhebok, Jackal, Porcupine, Otter, Zebra, Baboon, Monkey, Bushpig. Local legend speaks about sightings of shy Leopard in the mountain thickets, and most evenings we hear the Jackals call from the foothills around the lodge.
