At Buccara Wildlife Reserve Karoo, we’re proud to honor this tradition as we do in all of our exclusive destinations throughout the world. Where healthy living, peaceful coexistence with the land and indigenous culture, wildlife conservation, ecological awareness, and quality of life is preserved by our team to be shared with and enjoyed by all of our guests.
We sincerely believe you’ll enjoy your stay with us, and with excitement and anticipation look forward to the beginning of a great relationship and many adventures together.

We offer self-catering options with the use of our kitchen which can be shared or All-inclusive which we prepare for you.

This spectacular lodge, built-in 2013 while maintaining the colonial architecture of the estate, sits beneath the majestic Willow Slopes cliffs and is surrounded by green lawns. It is the ideal place to relax when you are not going on safari. You can choose between 4 chalets, all with air conditioning and attached bathrooms. Alternatively, you can book the main house with two bedrooms for a family atmosphere.
During the day, relax by the large pool, watch the wildlife that can graze on the lawns, or enjoy a soothing massage from one of our trained and experienced masseurs.
At Buccara, we are most proud of the evening hours. Starting with a culinary experience that is compared to an event, with homemade products and freshly prepared meat, which is perfectly prepared and grilled by our chefs. Let yourself be pampered with handpicked wines, spirits, and cigars and experience the stories of a beautiful day under the stars in the Monkey Bar.

With its foundation dating back to 1774, this is surely one of the historical marvels of the Great Karoo area, if not South Africa.
Emphasis has been laid on keeping the original style of this gem of a homestead with large spacious rooms looking out onto the majestic lawns surrounding the Estate and gardens.

Having 5 double rooms with attached bathrooms available, this is an ideal family vacation home with an “Out of Africa” movie-like atmosphere.

Slightly more modern than its historical neighbour, this lodge offers open living areas with a relaxed ambiance.

Walk out of the entertainment area, after a game of Snooker on our full-sized table dating back to 1911, and dive into the sparkling pool on a warm summers day. Or enjoy a soothing massage in the adjoining Spa.

With 4 comfortable rooms to choose from, this Lodge will feel like your very own home in the middle of Africa.

You have the option to enjoy your own barbecue around the pool should you decide not to dine as usual from our delectable kitchen.

Area Information:

Surrounded by the Camdeboo National Park, Graaff-Reinet, the heart of the “Great Karoo” – Place of Thirst – is a boundless and mysterious area covered by vast livestock and game farms, where broad plains roll away to distant koppies and multilayered mountains that seem to touch the indigo sky.

Listen to the silence, breathe in the aged earth and the Karoo bossies (which conjure up the taste of Karoo lamb!), and gaze at a startlingly clear horizon that seems drawn at the other end of the earth. Our clear night skies are studded with countless stars and huge bright planets; even other galaxies are visible with the naked eye, offering some of the best star gazing in the world.

We invite you to experience the magic of this area, discover eccentric little hamlets, sprawling farmsteads, the historical town of Graaff-Reinet and the nearby villages of Aberdeen and Nieu Bethesda, populated by warm and welcoming people that love to share their stories and legends.

Serene hide away in the Karoo and an amazing pool!

Friendly staff. Very clean. Beds so comfortable. All the luxuries needed are there, even a Nespresso with pods, wood for fire, swimming towels. To sleep in the old house (from the late 1700’s) were an experience, even for our South-africans. And the old house is still modern inside. Very safe.

Die huis en kamer waarin ons gewoon het was pragtig netjies en skoon. Dit was ‘n ware Karoo-ervaring. Ons het dit baie geniet.
