Meru National Park, in Kenya, is an area or untamed wilderness forgotten by time, and unspoilt by the rummaging of man. Elsa's Kopje (meaning 'small hill') is hidden amongst this wilderness. 9 custom built cottages are nestled on the hill, providing you with the ultimate view across a stretch of beautiful African landscape, under the vastness of an open African sky. Made famous by the film 'Born Free' and George Adamson's lions, these cottages are the best choice for a supreme African holiday.

Accommodation at Elsa's Kopje consists of:

The accommodation at Else's Kopje is varied, providing you with 9 cottages. 6 cottages have king sized beds and 2 have twin beds. Each cottage has a private bathroom with showers or baths made of stone, flush toilets and double basins. The camp is interconnects with paved paths that are lit by lamps at night, interweaving all the features of the camp together nicely. There is an open bar, lounge and a dining room. The view from the pool searches across the plains, and provides you with the perfect place to have a sun downer and look out over the plains abundant with wildlife, and listen to the sounds of the bush as the night sets in on another African day. One double cottage is set apart from the others. This one is ideal for families with children or a group. It has a double bedroom and a twin bedroom, both with bathrooms en-suite. Elsa's Private House is set apart from the rest of the lodge, in a reclusive part of the hill-top. The house consists of two double bedrooms with an en suite bathroom with a large bathtub. There is a spacious twin room, with en-suite bathroom. Elsa's House has its own private swimming pool. Guests are well looked after by a highly trained, unobtrusive team of staff and a skilled host who manages the lodge. Each cottage is attended by a butler who also waits on the guests at mealtimes. The food is traditional Northern Italian cuisine blended with a selection of local and international dishes, fresh baked bread, crisp salads and locally grown vegetables

Meru National Park is a vast, arid area, with undulating plains freckled with Doum Palms and Baobab trees and lush vegetation along 13 rivers that meander through the park. Guests see a more diverse range of species than in any other Park or Reserve. Regular sightings include: Beisa Oryx, Gerenuk, Elephant, Grevy's Zebra, Reticulated Giraffe, Lesser Kudu, Grant's Gazelle, Leopard, Lion, Cheetah, Rhino and the rare, elusive Greater Kudu. Meru is also famous for its bird life, including riverine and forest species as well as the arid dry country species.

There is much to see and do at Elsa's Kopje: game drives in open-sided safari Land Rovers, driven by knowledgeable driver-guides, guided walks are led by a Professional Safari Guide and accompanied by a Ranger. Other attractions include bush breakfasts and sundowners and visits to the Tharaka tribal village on the Southern Boundary of the Park.
