Twelve self-catering boutique glamping tents dot the unhindered Savannah-like bushveld on Lake Jozini's shore. Take in the unique surroundings and views over the Lebombo Mountains from your tent.

Our 55m2 custom-made tents are fully furnished and equipped with a private kitchen, lounge, en-suite bathroom (with private shower and toilet), two comfy bedrooms with real beds (each tent sleeps a total of five guests), a fireplace, air-conditioning and a wooden deck. There is an outdoor wood-fired hot tub next to each tent and is the perfect place to listen to the birdsongs or relax under the stars at night.

Each AfriCamps tent consists of a spacious open plan lounge area with a comfortable couch, a dining area with a solid wooden table and seating for five guests, a fully-equipped kitchen, two bedrooms that comfortably sleeps five guests, and a bathroom complete with a hot shower, flushing toilet and washbasin. Each tent has its own private outdoor wood-fired hot tub, perfect for cooling off during hot summers or warming up in winter.

Both bedrooms are furnished with an extra-length queen-size bed and have their own private entrance which allows maximum privacy. One of the bedrooms also contains a single bunk bed. Our tents are equipped with air-conditioning and an indoor fireplace. Enjoy a braai on our spacious wooden decks and take in the views from the comfortable deck loungers. Pull up the front covers and transform the tent into a large outdoor living area. Unwind and appreciate a festive family breakfast while taking in the serene natural beauty of the South African landscape.

Travel tip: For longer stays, an additional cooler box will come in very handy to keep your food and drinks cold. Ice is available to purchase from the camp.

AfriCamps at White Elephant Safari is located in the thriving Pongola Game Reserve, at the foot of the majestic Lebombo Mountains in KwaZulu-Natal, just south of Eswatini. The closest towns are Pongola and Jozini.

Apart from the 12 self-catering glamping tents, the property offers a beautiful communal pool area where guests can cool off or laze the afternoon away overlooking the beautiful surroundings, often shared with nyala and warthog who enjoy this grassy spot. Visit the hide from where you can view wildlife and birds. Each tent also boasts an outdoor wood-fired hot tub, the ultimate form of relaxation, especially with an African sunset in front of you. Take part in the daily activities - game drives, boat cruises and bush walks.

A visit to AfriCamps White Elephant Safari will be synonymous with game viewing... in many different forms:

* Safari boat cruises
The 15000-hectare Lake Jozini provides the focal feature of Pongola Game Reserve. Spot herds of antelope, hippo, crocodile as well as an enormous variety of bird species and the occasional elephant enjoying a relaxing bath from a boat.

* Safari game drive
Game drives are conducted in open 4x4 vehicles, either in the early morning or late afternoons by a professional guide who will show you, not only the larger game but also the many varied and interesting smaller species in our game reserve.

* Guided walk
Walking trails are very much a part of the White Elephant Safari experience. Walks go out daily, either early morning or late afternoon.

* Tiger fishing/boat hire
Lake Jozini is the ideal location for the novice fisherman or the expert angler for a tiger fish catch of a lifetime, strictly catch and release, of course.

* Elephant research project
This activity is educational, interactive and visual, and includes spending time with our research and conservation staff. After breakfast, guests depart for a cruise on Lake Jozini to locate and watch the elephants from the boat. After a few hours on the water, guests return to camp. The activity continues in the afternoon with a visit to our Research Centre.

* Black rhino range expansion project
An adrenaline-raising experience that provides an insight into the rhino's fascinating world and the WWF Black Rhino Range Expansion Project.
