Makuwa Safari Lodge is a bushveld retreat located in the Greater Kruger area on a private game reserve that bustles with buffalo, plains game and bird activity.
Idyllic accommodation in whitewashed houses with thatched roofs and broad patios offers sweeping views of the wilderness and the distant Drakensberg
Mountains. We are located only 20 km from the Orpen Gate to the Kruger National Park.
Settle into your bush experience with an evening sundowner as the sun sets over the Drakensberg Mountains on the horizon before enjoying a hearty meal prepared by our warm and friendly staff.
In Room Facilities:Accommodation is available in 5 twin suites and 2 family rooms, each individually styled and furnished. Each room contains three-quarter beds, an en-suite bathroom, mosquito nets, a fan and an airy covered patio overlooking lush lawns and a sparkling swimming pool.
Area Information:Makuwa Safari Lodge is situated 20km from Kruger National Park's Orpen Gate. We are a 30 minute drive from the town of Hoedspruit and a +-5 hour drive from Johannesburg.
There are daily flights between Hoedspruit, Johannesburg and Cape Town.
Property Facilities:The lodge has an open central area designed for hosting you in the bush. The open-plan kitchen leads to our enclosed dining patio where meals will be served. The boma area, shaded by a huge fig tree, creates an ideal space for you to enjoy relaxed bushveld dining under the stars.
Attractions:Our property is home to a healthy population of Buffalo, Zebra, Nyala, Kudu, Birdlife and other Plains Game. Enjoy Birdwatching and Bush Walks on our Small Nature Reserve.
Off-site activities include Day Trips into Kruger National Park, Sunset Drives in an open safari vehicle on a Big 5 Reserve, Boat Trips on the Blyde Dam, Hot Air Ballooning as well as visiting Wildlife Conservation and Community Projects in the area.

Beautiful and Clean, pity a place like Mali Mali can upset a persons Holiday... an event that was meant to be legendary! Mali Mali is not as per there website... they manipulate the internet!
The nature.
Morokologa game reserve, we spend our Christmas at the camp and we had a beautiful game drive and morning walks with my grandmother. Played games and reconnected as a family.
Most of Gold cabins- the weather - the sound of the birds-
Since we have family and old colleagues in Hoedspruit we enjoy everything. Love going to Hoedspruit for a weekend break away.
The quietness.
It’s a beautiful town which is easily accessible and has all the convenient shopping around the lodges nearby and one is able to do various activities around the area.
Privacy!
The town is very small yet beautiful and neat. It has lots of tourist attractions and good place to visit, just to unwind!
