Big Five Game Viewing on our doorstep makes the Happy Jackal the perfect choice of luxurious accommodation. This river lodge lies on the banks of the beautiful Sundays River, only 2 km from the Addo Elephant National Park, and as close as ten minutes away from a selection of prestigious private game reserves. Easily reached from the N2 , it is in the perfect spot for game, coastal or river activities.

Experience a game drive, in our vehicle, with our own qualified and experienced game ranger on a full day safari.

Extensive lawns stretch down to the Happy Jackal jetty while unspoilt bush is the habitat of Kudu, Bushbuck and Goliath Herons on the opposite banks. Port Elizabeth and its airport is only half an hour away and in the opposite direction the historic, university town of Grahamstown would take the traveller a mere 45 minutes.

We offer a choice of 6 luxurious, en-suite rooms, 5 of which enjoy stunning river views. Guests may choose from ground floor rooms opening onto private patios and the river bank or impressively large thatched upstairs rooms, one of which has its own thatched deck. Breakfasts cater to all tastes and include both a full English and health breakfast. Home-made jams and preserves and bread freshly baked are to be found on the breakfast table each morning.

Dinner is available on request. Prior arrangement is essential, as our food is freshly prepared.

We will plan and book your game drives, safaris and boat trips, offering guidance and suggestions to ensure your stay is a memorable one.

Perfect place to go to the Addo park!
We stayed in the cottages and were invited for breakfast in the main building!
This how they are at Happy Jackal, the most friendly people with the most amazing breakfast. Included homemade jam and fresh bread just coming out of the oven!
Included best entertaining and laughing!
Thanks a lot! Was a pleasure to stay with you!

Peter and Liz are very helpful and great hosts, the location is perfect, breakfast is delicious (especially the bread ) and the bed very comfy. Only thing that is not quite working is the TV. So if you don't plan on watching any then you re fine :)
Overall it was a great stay

Peter and his wife a lovely couple, let you feel at home at arrival, provides a excellent breakfast (with homecooked bread). Can improve on the maintenance of their garden though.

The animals are not scared of the vehicles travelling near them. We experienced some real magic moments in Addo.
