Ntamba Lodge is perfectly equipped to be home-from-home. The lodge is tastefully decorated throughout. The suites were very private and beautifully appointed in every respect - the beds were super-comfy, there was a nespresso machine in every room (with pods), as well as a fridge, stocked with glass bottles of cold water. There was a safe in the room, where we could lock our valuables. The bathroom was spacious, with a massive double shower, oval bath and double vanities. Separate toilet. Lovely outdoor shower.

The main kitchen was perfect to work in – from a gas stove and two fridges with a huge amount of fridge space, a great pantry, a dishwasher and even a washing machine and tumble drier! The best was the nespresso machine and the milk frother – essential for survival – thank you! The living and entertainment areas were extremely comfortable, with a separate drinks fridge, wine cooler and ice machine. The lodge and suites are fully airconditioned, which was awesome!

We never ate at the inside dining-room table, because the outdoor table was so perfect! We braaied on both nights, being able to sit around the fire, under the stars and enjoy the sounds of the night. We used the pool on both days and enjoyed some time on the pool loungers, geting our daily dose of Vitamin D!

We also enjoyed going to the viewing deck - a separate structure with comfy seating, hammocks and a table, overlooking a water-hole. There is a real-time camera which streams what is happening at the waterhole to the TV inside the house - very nice!

The game drives were a huge highlight for us, even though we have done many in our lives. The vehicle was in mint condition and we loved the ponchos, which were supplied to ward off the early morning/late evening chill.

Lara – the lodge manager and ranger, was extremely professional throughout our stay. She made sure to inform us of the covid requirements and lodge regulations at the start. She wore her mask at all times. We loved the game drives with her – apart from being an excellent driver, she is also extremely knowledgeable about the animals and birds and we learned a lot from her. She took us to some wonderful places to have sundowners/morning tea. The lodge supplied us with delicious snacks for all our game drives - my favourite were the delicious home-made rusks and biscuits! PS. The lodge supplied us with home-made cookies in our rooms too!

We had wonderful sightings, seeing the big 5 over our 2-day stay! A leopard walked in front of the vehicle on the first day – what a lucky sighting. And we got to see a cheetah on an impala kill. Lots of white rhino and elephant. And a buffalo too! We also had a lion sighting. We saw lots of buck and wonderful birds. We had an elephant bull visit the lodge watering hole on the morning of our departure….. perhaps he came to say goodbye?

The cleaning staff were brilliant - polite, respectful and very quiet as they moved about doing their work. We hardly saw them, yet everything was cleaned up in a jiffy!

We hope to visit again soon. This was a very special get-away.

The Game Drive with an amazing ranger dubbed "the Buffalo solider", we had a free lunch which was in life's in the price.
The beautiful mountains and wild life just had me in a tranquil mode.
Definitely a do again for me.

The scenery is breathtaking and the wildlife is abundant. Sadly, the roads in the Pilanesburg are in terrible condition. Black Rhino Reserve however is well maintained and a spectacular place to visit.
