Attractions in & around Margate:
* Golf
The lower South Coast offers some of the most amazing golf courses to be found in SA. Margate is within 60 minutes of 9 golf courses, two of them rated amongst SA's top 12. No wonder this is called the golf coast of South Africa.
* Beaches
The long golden beach of Margate is where it all happens, and is a 2 minute drive, there's an amusement park and Margate's main swimming beach. During the holiday season there are a host of festivities taking place for the young and old.
Margate Beach also offers excellent swimming and surfing and has the sought after Blue Flag status.
Water temperatures rarely drop below 20°C, so you can swim all year round, even in mid-winter.
* Fishing
Margate offers various excellent rock and surf angling spots. If you are looking to go deep-sea fishing, scuba diving or just for boat pleasure trips, go along to Shelly Beach as boat launches are done from here.
* Sardine Run
When the Sardine run starts in June, the South Coast is where you want to be. It is an unforgettable experience to witness the activity that takes place with the sharks, dolphins and various game fish that follow. Perhaps the most exciting part of the sardine run is dolphin spotting, as thousands of common and bottlenose dolphins follow the shoals.
Let's not forget the whales, those gentle giants of the ocean, which frequent the waters this time of the year.
Other attractions also include the Riverbend Croc farm, Old Mac Donald's Farm, Oribi Gorge, to mention a few.
Please note that there is a admin fee of R550 - R650 and a R600 - R2000 refundable breakage deposit that is not included in the quote and needs to be paid to the establishment.

Margate is a small little town with a variety of day and night life. Everything one needs is in walking distance wherever you are in Margate.
Beach , nearby stores and restaurants.
I enjoy to spend the holidays with my friends and family.
Beautiful beaches.
The beautiful beach.
Very safe place.
Waffle House was absolutely amazing, there is no other place that serves what they create. Their onion jam is the best you can find and is made on the premises like everything else that is on offer.
Plenty of shops, clean beaches, interesting activities in and around Margate. Great police presence and visibility.
Views, beaches and the atmosphere.
Visit Lake Eland close to Margate.
