The property is designed so that the ground floor is a communal area with inside and outside lounge areas, a fully stocked bar and a dining area. The ground floor is entirely open with stack doors to the pool, Jacuzzi and fire pit area and garden that walks out onto the beach. We have a reception and concierge service to cater for all your needs throughout your stay with us. All rooms on the first and second floor are Sea-Facing rooms with their own patio’s and with views stretching over the winding coastal road below and the endless horizon of the deep blue Indian ocean and ships waiting to harbour in the distance. All rooms are open plan, with luxurious bathroom layouts. By day, watch the dolphins in the surf in front or take in the magnificent sunset over cocktails in the evening from our Belvedere Bar, Fire pit area or if you prefer, your own balcony.

Why stay in Umhlanga? Well, firstly, Umhlanga is perfectly situated on the east coast of South Africa just north of the vibrant port city of Durban. It's only ten minutes south of King Shaka International Airport. It faces the warm waters of the Indian Ocean.

*Firepit with seating to lit up the nightlife and to enjoy romantic cocktails with your loved ones. Our staff will light the fire around 19: 00 every night if the weather permits.

Kite surf lessons can be booked and provided by inhouse staff. Deep sea kayak fishing trips arranged inhouse. Book training and trips with management. Weather permitting.

Everything, especially the pool area! Excellent, world class facilities. Like being in a first world country.
My partner and I celebrated our 5th anniversary at Northstar. It was truly a magical and luxurious experience. The ocean view from our room was just spectacular. I could wake up to it every day! Their attention to detail is out of the books, the food was delicious, service was great and I wouldn't have wanted to stay anywhere else. Thank you Northstar for making our 5th anniversary a memorable one and I hope to return again soon!
This hotel is perfectly located with a spectacular ocean view from my private balcony. The rooms are stunning, Staff were exceedingly professional and helpful. The food was delicious. I would definitely recommend to anyone. I will definitely be visiting this magnificent place soon.
