Compass View  From R1300 /night

Sleeps 5 people, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms. 70 m2

Big enough for 5, but cozy enough for 2. Insulated ... by original mud-brick walls, it's cozy in winter and cool in summer, with a little help from a fan and a fireplace. Beautiful old trees provide lots of shade in the garden and a big BBQ area.

Compass view is a quirky, cosy cottage in the heart of town. Compass View offer accommodation for up to 7 guests.
This newly renovated very cosy cottage is a step back in time but with all the modern amenities. There are 3 bedrooms with 3 en-suite bathrooms. Well-equipped open plan kitchen and lounge area with a Morso fire place to set the stage for a romantic Karoo sleep over in the heart of our very charming Nieu-Bethesda witch will not be forgotten soon.
Our guests enjoy the privacy and comfort of not sharing the cottage with someone else.

The main bedroom has a queen size bed with an en-suite bathroom with a walk in shower and slipper bath. The second bedroom has queen size bed in the one room witch walks out on the back patio and the garden, en-suite bathroom with a walk in shower. The third bedroom has 2 single beds (we can add a third single bed per request) and an ensuite-bathroom with a beautiful clawfoot bath. All rooms are equipped with electric blankets, heaters, fans and hair dryers. The outside braai area is perfect for the lovely Karoo summer evenings under the stars. The front patio has a lovely view on the nearby mountains and people watching and wine on the front stoep with the water in the old “leivoor” system running at your feet is just magical. If you are lucky then the horses that’s roaming free will graze past the stoep.
Beautifully appointed and comfortable, you will feel right at home in the space, no matter what the weather forecast says. The large garden which is dotted with trees is a great place for kids to play, and the entertainment area is perfect for summer night barbecue's with new found friends.

Area Information:

Nieu-Bethesda (Dutch for New Bethesda) is a village in the Eastern Cape at the foot of the Sneeuberge, approximately 50 kilometres from Graaff Reinetand Middelburg. It was founded in 1875 as a church town, like many other Karoo villages, and attained municipal status in 1886. The name is of biblical origin (John 5:2-4) and means "place of flowing water" A natural spring and lei-water (furrow) system supply residents with crisp water, and provide the kind of soil perfect for roses, pear trees and weeping willows to thrive. It is a desert rose amongst the aloes of Graaff Reinet and Middleberg, each 50km away. Nieu Bethesda, however, is something quite special. Stuck in time, the town is a marvel. Here you will not find a tarred road, a petrol station or an ATM. What you will find is quirky residents, mysterious artists, donkeys, pear trees, and chats over coffee that last all day. You may find snow in the middle of summer, and you may find yourself never wanting to leave.

Really quirky old cottage, just the right atmosphere for the town.
Sitting on the stoep watching the untethered horses walking around was amazing, could have stayed so much longer.
The cottage was extremely well equipped,
everything you could possibly need and then some.
So pleased we chose Compass View.

Such a quaint little village. Make sure to arrive earlier in the day if you’re only staying for one night so that you have time to explore the village and quirky spots.

The Bushman Heritage Museum is a world class museum in addition to perfect quality gifts of quilts, pictures, amazing pillow cases and bags. The Tower B and B is excellent accommodation and food in quiet surroundings with remarkable landscape. Descendants of the bushmen tell you their amazing myths. Unforgettable.
