Area Information:

Just over an hour’s drive from Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront or International Airport through scenic wine and mountain country and culminating in an arc of soaring peaks, the Tulbagh Valley is the uncommercialized gem of the Cape Winelands and Duikersdrift one of it’s most intimate venues, being perfectly and centrally positioned to take advantage of visits to prime attractions in all directions in half- or full-day tours without the need to overnight elsewhere which would be the case if based in the southern wine valleys.
The drive to Duikersdrift from Cape Town takes 25 minutes longer than going to Franschhoek, but the top class wine and olive estates are free of crowds, the historical buildings line Church Street, a meal out does not break the bank and there is space for walking, thinking and rejuvenating in a low-density tourism environment where social distancing has always been the norm!
In short, it is the perfect getaway destination for those wanting to base themselves close to Cape Town in order to see and experience all of the attractions on offer while staying in one place for an extended period in a safe and healthy, low-density environment.
Duikersdrift is superbly positioned, both in the valley where it sits right in the middle of the most well-known wineries of Saronsberg, Rijk’s, Montpellier, and Krone / Twee Jonge Gezellen, and regionally, allowing visitors easy access to the highlights of the central and northern wine valleys (Franschhoek, Stellenbosch and Paarl are 40-45 min away while Ceres and Riebeek Kasteel are 25 min away), the historical village of Tulbagh itself, the beauty of the Atlantic West Coast (Langebaan, West Coast NP, and Clanwilliam / Lambert’s Bay are all nearby) and the spring flowering displays of Namaqualand. Dedicated and experienced staff attend to guest needs and provide expertise for self-drive visitors and information on a selection of guided activities & tours on offer.

We found Tulbagh to be close enough to Cape Town for a quick weekend away with family & friends.
Clean town with stunning wine farms, wine tasting and lovely restaurants.

Very picturesque with great hiking, mountain biking trails.

Lots of convenient shops in the town.

Can't wait for our next visit.
