Welcome to 7 Cross Street,

This charming Karoo house is immediately adjacent to Parsonage Street, in the historic centre of Graaff-Reinet. It has been fully restored recently and offers two bedrooms, one with an antique four-poster double bed and one with two single beds, both with en-suite bathrooms (one with a bath and a shower, and the other with a shower).
There is a fully-equipped kitchen with an original hearth and chimney feature. A combined dining area and sitting room adjoins the kitchen. This leads to a paved patio area, with a table and chairs, and a small lawned garden, which is shared with the neighbouring garden cottage.

The house has some excellent classic antique furniture items and prints. Staying in this property will give you a true feeling of being in old Graaff-Reinet and it is ideally situated for the town’s extensive museums and other facilities. Several good restaurants are within a short walking distance.

If required, this unit can be booked together with the adjoining garden cottage, which has one bedroom with a double bed and an en-suite shower bathroom (see “7A Cross Street – garden cottage”, on this website). If such a joint booking is made, an inter-leading door from the kitchen of the garden cottage (which is normally kept locked) can then be opened to provide joint direct access to the patio and dining/sitting area of the main house.

It should be noted that access to the adjoining garden cottage referred to above is via a separate side entrance and narrow passage along the side of the house, past the patio and garden areas of the main house. To a limited extent, this can affect the privacy of the outside areas of the main house.

This unit has a dedicated adjoining off-street carport, for secure parking, which has a vehicle height limit of 1.8 metres (any vehicle above this height has to be parked at De Kothuize’s main parking area at 4 Parsonage Street, which is a 5-minute walk from the unit)
