This working farm offers comfortable self-catering cottages.
Family Getaway is a self contained cottage in its own fenced garden. It has a wood burning fireplace inside and a braai pit outside near a large deck. The cottage consists of 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms accommodating up to 13 guests in total. The main bedroom is furnished with a comfortable double bed. The second and third bedrooms each contain 2 single beds, and the fourth bedroom is furnished with a single bed, 2 bunk beds and 2 floor mattresses.

Beautiful farm. Jacqui went out of her way to make us welcome, and even gave us a bigger cottage to accommodate our Great Danes. Absolutely lovely.
I often spoil myself and my fur babies with a Weekend away, and my recent stay at Highover Stud was by far the best getaway I have had in many years.
Jacqui was absolutely the most perfect Host and the farm and my cottage were truly spectacular. I loved every single minute and it really was a struggle to leave.
The Picnic Lunch which I requested was way beyond my expectation - so much thought and variety 👌🏻
I cannot recommend this venue enough as the most perfectly tranquil spot to completely unwind and restore body and mind.
So many unexpected extra's as well - tea, coffee, milk & sugar. Even salt and pepper and spices.
The cottage was beautifully decorated but in the most 'homely' way. This was really one of the best places that I have ever found - I will definitely be back!
My dog and I enjoyed a wonderful 2 night stay in the garden cottage. The accommodation was clean and comfortable with a very nice shower head and lots of hot water. Abundant bird life around the property. Highly recommended:)
Jacqui is an amazing host. Definitely went above and beyond what is expected. The cottage was cute, with all basic amenities. The garden was safely enclosed so I wasn't worried about my dog exploring on her own. The farm is lovely. My only regret was that we only spent one night. We will be back.

The roads are bad, but the farms and scenery are beautiful.
Don't let the Mooi River area that you have to drive through put you off.

Easy to do the whole Midllands from there, plus you are 2 hours closer to Joburg on the way home.
Peaceful and clean.
Fishing and the scenery.
Beautiful countryside to travel in and start the Midlands Meander back down towards Howick.
