St Lucia lies at the southernmost entrance to iSimangaliso Wetland Park (formerly known as the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park), stretching from Cape St Lucia in the south to Kozi Bay in the north. The little town of St Lucia is a fantastic tourist hub for the park and offers a variety of accommodations, restaurants, supermarkets, coffee shops, and tourist shops. It’s a great place to stop for seafood.
iSimangaliso Wetland Park is South Africa’s third largest park, covering 280km of coastline, and was the first South African park to be declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1999. It is made up of a variety of different ecosystems, such as freshwater pans, lake systems, mangrove and reed swamps, marshland, coastal dunes, coral reefs, beaches, and coastal forests.

We went to St Lucia Villa Mia 5 to recover after operation. Absolutely beautiful place. Our own private braai area right at pool. Due to my medical condition we could not go out but our hosts arranged food delivery for us from nearly all the restaurants in St Lucia. One night there was guests that were intoxicated and loud. We informed our hosts who in return got the caretaker at the property in minutes and he resolved the issue. Will definitely book again. Thanks to the workers at Villa Mia that were always willing to run and get us something we needed in town. It felt like home and we will always remember our trip. Next time we will definitely visit all the attractions that St Lucia has to offer.
