Ouberg Private Nature Reserve is located at the confluence of three of South Africa's biomes: Succulent Karoo, Fynbos and Albany Thicket. It is approximately 1000 hectares in size and is situated in the Klein (Little) Karoo, Western Cape, South Africa. As a result of a combination of the geology, soils, topography, geographic location and climate, this old farm is home to a surprising diversity of plants (flora) and animals (fauna).
Walking in the veld is never the same - every day, every month, every season reveals different flowers and plants, insects, birds and reptiles. Most of the mammals that occur on the farm are nocturnal, well-hidden or shy, so camera traps have been a fantastic tool in revealing which species call our farm home, or are just passing through.
Farm guests are welcome to make use of the few existing farm roads to explore the farm on foot. For those happy to use existing game trails and walk through the veld. Cyclists are also welcome to use the existing farm roads. As the farm is located on the corner of the Ouberg Pass and Driekuilshoogte Roads, there are a variety of routes and distances that cyclists can enjoy, and that will cater for various fitness levels too.

Buying dried fruit and many other tasty things at Cape Dry
Beautiful setting, lot of attractions around.
Wonderful atmosphere and most welcoming and friendly residents. A true Gem with beautiful views and excellent hiking experiences. A peaceful and beautiful place with lots of exciting activities for everyone
The tranquility, historical few places, cleanliness and friendly inhabitants.
Came up to Montagu for a climbing course with Blue Mountain Adventures and stayed at the Tolhuis with two friends. It was just perfect. Firstly the location, it was only mere meters away from our first day's location for climbing , LEGOLAND. We could literally stop and walk up to our accommodation for a coffee and lunch break! The place itself was just perfect for the 3 of us. Great little braai area where we enjoyed our evenings and the place is simple and humble yet stylish! The hosts, Michelle, Ivan, and Jason their 6-month-old puppy were just very warm and accommodating. Thank you!
Climbing at Lego Land, Hiking, and cycling (there is a little history town cycle tour).
Quietness and peace.
The beautiful nature. The view of the mountain.
