Restaurant

Sip sundowners in Nhlange Pub with amazing view and enjoy cuisine with a distinctive local flavor in the cosy atmosphere of the Umdoni (water berry tree) restaurant & bar overlooking the pool and the sun deck. Two, four and six bedded rustic lodges are comfortably appointed. Structures consist of thatched roofs, treated poles, wooden floors on stilts and reed walls are typically Tonga/Zulu style. The accommodation is rustic more than plush but the setting and range of activities make a stay well worthwhile.

In Room Facilities:

Full board or self catering options are available. All chalets have fully equipped kitchens with private braai with access to boma areas. Accent is on comfort, informal service and attention. Guests are encouraged to explore this unique environment by friendly staff who are on hand to assist with information & arranging outings. For the adventurous there are numerous activities and excursions that fully utilise the many resources available.

Area Information:

While Kosi Bay has such wonders as the two armed Mudskipper fish and the one-armed Fiddler crab, nearby Ndumo Game Reserve sports rather larger wonders of the animal kingdom, Rhino, Giraffe, Warthog, Zebra, Kudu, Nyala and Impala as well as over 400 bird species.

Other day tours include Black Rock, Lala Neck and Bhanga Nek, home to Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife's 30 year old Turtle research facility all within easy reach (4x4 vehicles are recommended).

Property Facilities:

Kosi Bay Lodge is an ideal overnight stop-over for those traveling to Mozambique. Kosi Bay is a place where fishermen can revere their surroundings and catch. Kingfish, Queenfish, Stumpnose, Shad, Grunter, Mullet and Garrick are just a fraction of what is available from the waters of this region.

Attractions:

Kosi Bay often described as the last outpost of untouched African paradise, pristine beauty as God had originally created. Age old traditions passed down by generations of tribal existence still continue to this day in untainted originality. Ancient fishing kraals erected and tendered by the resourceful Tonga people provide sustainable catches that do not deplete the fish population. Kosi Bay was described by one of the first scientists to explore this region as "A wonderful aquarium and the most gorgeous aviary". Kosi Bay's pristine wealth of beauty and natural resources has to be seen with the physical eye to be fully appreciated.

Friendly staff. Clean accommodation. You have privacy. Close to nature. Feels like you are alone. Perfect place to unwind. Will definitely stay there again.

We loved it there, thank you.

The only negative comments could be that the fourth tent was very basic compared to the original three; the showers in the top three tents didn’t work from the second day and we had to use the tent below the kitchen area despite reporting the problem; and it would have been nice to have a mirror in our tent (I think we were in No. 1).

The communal area was great – the kitchen is well stocked with pots and bowls, crockery and cutlery, good freezer and fridge – and the boma was wonderful!

It also had good access to the places we wanted to visit in the area.

We'll go back if the opportunity presents itself.

Thank you.
