The farm offers three self-catering, thatch-roofed cottages, 1 corrugated iron-roofed and 4 quaint prefab cottages, all situated on the banks of the Jan Dissels River with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains.
It is the ideal place for a family getaway, or a romantic weekend.
Explore the farm roads on foot or mountain bike, fish and swim in the unpolluted river and be awed by the stars in the clear night skies above you.
Make this your base and explore the Cederberg, the coast at Lambert's Bay, Wupperthal, Namaqualand and Clanwilliam from here, or simply relax and enjoy the peace and tranquility of nature around you.

Property Facilities:
The farm Boskloofswemgat is situated in the Boskloof Valley, a magnificent unspoiled area, bordering on the Cederberg Wilderness Area . The Jan Dissels river flows through the valley and the farm was named for a favourite river pool or "swemgat".
The accommodation is set along the river banks and guests can enjoy swimming and fishing in the clear, unpolluted river.
Other activities include mountain biking and hiking, on farm roads or longer hikes - the start of the Krakadouw Trail being near here. You can also do the rewarding hike to "Die Toring", a nearby peak - about 4 hours there and back.
In Spring the valley turns into a spectacle of riotous colour when wild flowers carpet the landscape as far as the eye can see.

Area Information:
The Cederberg Wilderness area comprises approximately 7 100 hectares and lies to the South-east of Clanwilliam. This remote, pristine area with its breathtaking natural beauty which includes a variety of fynbos and dramatic rock formations offers the visitor a unique wilderness experience. Generally, only walking and hiking is permitted in the area. For the less fit visitors there are more accessible places such as Stadsaal Caves with their famous Bushman-Elephant paintings. There is a range of accommodation facilities with a number of recreation options. This area forms part of the Cape Nature Conservation and operates out of Algeria, 30 km from Clanwilliam. The area is know internationally for its walking and hiking trails and is home to a variety of unique plant species such as the Cedar Tree. It is also the only place where leopards are protected.

In Room Facilities:
Eight whitewashed cottages set in the tranquil farm landscape offer the ideal getaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
All are well equipped, have full bathrooms and good quality bed linen and towels are provided. Some have indoor fireplaces and all have outside braai facilities.
Wood is for sale on the farm for your convenience.

Attractions:
Other activities include mountain biking and hiking, on farm roads or longer hikes - the start of the Krakadouw Trail being near here. You can also do the rewarding hike to "Die Toring", a nearby peak - about 4 hours there and back.

We stayed at Hangnes for two nights and enjoyed the terrace with the nice view and the comfortable living room very much.

We stayed at Boskloofswemgat so that we could have a SHORT DRIVE T THE BIEDOUW VALLEY TO SEE THE SPRING FLOWERS.

The reception was good and the staff were friendly and helpful. The farm area where the cottages are located, is beautiful as is the river.

However, the specific cottage we were allocated, Kliphuis, was dark, cold and dank. I cannot recommend it. The other cottages seemed very nice.

We had the most wonderful rest. We were made very welcome by our host Lizbie. The bird life is something to behold, even for the untrained bird watcher! The weather was wonderful the first two days so enjoyed the river which flowed strongly in front of our cottage. Just sad that two large water tubes arrived to late to laze on the river with. I highly recommend Boskloofswemgat as a place of relaxation and rest. Expect the cottages to be very basic in decor and equipment.

We decided to take a trip to see the spring flowers, and spend the night at Boskloofswemgat. We found the cottages to be very clean, and costy. As it was rather cold we made a fire in the inside fire place, which heated up very quickly. I would love to go in summer so we could swim in the river, and hike up the mountain.

The accommodation is good and the bedding warm as we enjoyed our sleep on a cold day with the river close by letting you know that water is strong!!

A getaway place to be enjoyed giving true rest for a busy life in the city!

Boschkloof is truly spectacular. We had a brilliant two days with log fires, red wine, and long walks in the beautiful mountains, and river lined citrus orchards.

We had a relaxing stay and enjoyed swimming in the river - very tranquil. We were disappointed as we were expecting to be able to fish but there was no fishing in the area (well at least we did not find any).
thanks

We had the most awesome stay at Boskloof swemgat. And just how grateful we were for being so close to the river and pools became clear when the temperature that weekend made a turn at 47 degrees. I can not wait to go again!

We enjoyed the sunset over the dam.
The gravel roads were mostly in a fairly good condition.
