Nambiti Plains is an exclusive, intimate 5* Lodge in the heart of the malaria free Nambiti Game Reserve, Kwa-Zulu Natal. Offering our guests a private bush experience where Africa meets absolute luxury in an earthy environment.
The reserve consists of 24 000 acres of pristine nature – including an abundance of natural water and a beautiful waterfall on the Sundays River making it a unique sanctuary. Game viewing include amongst others the Big 5, Cheetah, Eland, Gemsbok and Nyala as well as several rare bird species such as the Crowned Cranes, Martial Eagle, and Secretary Birds.
Rooms imitate the wide-open space of the plains in front of the lodge and the décor tie into the natural environment. Each room is specially designed to offer 180 degree panoramic views of the plains with floor to ceiling sliding doors offering you the chance to bath right in the bush! Homemade biscuits complement the coffee and tea stations while the mini bar is stocked to your request. Some rooms offer air conditioning and outside bush showers.
The Lodge boasts big stone fireplaces for winter and a tucked away swimming pool for summer months where you will frequently see the elephant herd coming to drink. Wrap around decks allow you to admire wildlife up close and personal and enjoy the variety of plains game drinking from the waterhole right in front of the lodge. Not being fenced in offer you the opportunity to walk side by side with wildlife such as nyalas or zebra – a true bush experience.

The Reserve’s incredible biodiversity; including savannah, thornveld, riverine bush, majestic acacia trees and extensive grasslands mirror the plains of central Africa. The abundance of natural water, perennial rivers and breath-taking waterfalls on the Sundays River make Nambiti a unique sanctuary.
The area around Nambiti has a firm footing in South African history with several battles of the Anglo-Zulu and Anglo-Boer wars taking place in this vicinity – in fact many of these battlefields have been preserved as reminders of the rich history.
In addition, the Reserve is completely Malaria Free.
Our swimming pool at the Lodge has wrap around decks and overlooks the waterhole. Watch while elephants drink from the pool or enjoy the activities of various plains game.
Apart from the traditional, open-vehicle safari game drives where the Big Five and over thirty other species of game can be observed; guests can enjoy a Bush Walk, Picnic Lunches, Bass Fishing and Stargazing.
For the passionate photographer or enthusiastic nature lover a private vehicle can be booked at an additional charge (subject to availability)

We loved staying at Nambiti Plains and wished it was more than one night, the lodge is really nice, peaceful, well located. All the staff was of an amazing kindness and helpful, we had two game drive, one in the evening and one early morning, the ranger was very playful and explained us a lot of stuff. The suites we had was beyond expectation. One place we really recommend
