The caves in Didima contain many San rock art paintings, evidence that South Africa’s first nation probably resided in this area several centuries ago.
Hikers arrive en masse for the exceptional beauty and tough challenges that face anyone attempting the hiking trails through Didima Gorge. All hikers visiting rock art sites must be escorted by a qualified nature guide and Didima offers 1 such hike, however, there are a further 6 hikes in the area that exclude rock art and are self-guided.
