Step outside of the hustle and bustle of life and into this island paradise in the Seychelles. You can reach La Digue by boat or helicopter from Mahé or Praslin. This island is fairly untouched and therefore you can enjoy the rare tranquility it has to offer.
The slow pace of the La Digue is evident in its mode of transportation. Locals usually use the ox-cart or bicycle. As a visitor one can enjoy these unique ox-cart excursions while being absorbed in the beauty of the island and viewing some traditional houses at the same time. Visitors love the palm-fringed coves and the spectacular coral reefs around the island were one can enjoy swimming, snorkelling and fishing. The quiet beaches are perfect for long walks. Well worth the trip by boat or footpath is Anse Cocos beach, located in the South East region of the La Digue. This unique beach has pink-tinged sand surrounded by pink granite formations.
You can also take a walk through the lush forest area where you could spot the rare black paradise flycatcher. This bird was believed to be extinct, but recent research shows that there are as many as 100 on the island. For the hiking enthusiasts, Eagle’s Nest Mountain, also called Belle Vue also offers an awesome hiking experience and spectacular views of La Digue.
