Lake Fundudzi Reviews
More info about Lake Fundudzi
There are myths surrounding Lake Fundudzi so ancient and oft-told that they have become ingrained in the culture of the Venda tribe who reside in this part of the Limpopo Province in South Africa.

The Venda people regard themselves as the custodians of the lake and in their culture, the lake is considered the most sacred of places. Visitors require permission from the local Vhatatsindi chief to visit and when doing so, must show respect by performing a greeting ritual that involves facing away from the lake and bending down to look at the lake through spread legs. This greeting is called the Ukodola salute and visitors are asked to throw a few strands of hair into the lake to appease the python god... Show more
