The cottages/rondavels are situated around the main hotel about 200m from the sea.
There are 2 types of accommodation: Seafacing and Garden.
Each room sleeps 2 guests and offers either double or twin beds.
Children 0-3 years N/C, children 4-12 years half price. Our weekend special rate applies to a 2 night stay (Friday-Sunday/Saturday-Monday) - should your weekend start on a Saturday, ending on Monday, we offer a sumptuous seafood Saturday buffet and a braai on Sunday evening.
En suite Bathrooms with bath and shower (a few don't have a bath).
Tea/coffee replenished daily.
Fresh linen and towels.
No smoking in rooms.
The Haven Hotel is situated in the Cwebe Nature Reserve located at the mouth of the Mbashe River.
Surrounded by forest and long un-spoilt beaches, perfect for leisurely walks observing the beauty of nature.
The Cwebe Reserve (ECPTA) gate closes at 18h00 sharp and charges R 15pppn for adults and R 10pppn for children 11 years and under, payable in cash at the gate on arrival (01 April 2023 - ongoing into 2024). It is advisable to use a bakkie/4 x 4 vehicle or a high clearance vehicle as the last portion to the Haven is gravel.

Dwesa Nature Reserve, located next to the Cwebe Reserve can be accessed either by canoe over the Mbashe River or by car 2 hrs away.

The Haven is a great spot to stay a few days. I would recommend at least three as the drive to the Haven is a bit long. It was a perfect stopover for us from PE to Durban and we really enjoyed the tranquility and scenery.
We took the 4x4 trail through the reserve to Breezy Point, which made the road into the Haven look like a beautifully paved road, but my husband loved the drive, which I felt I could have walked faster.
The horseback riding along the beach was amazing and I really felt safe with our guide.
The walks along the beach were wonderfully lonely and we were usually the only ones on the beach, with the exception of the cows.
We spotted a giant mangrove crab that kept us entertained and we loved the view from our room.
The food was great and filling. we liked our adjoining room that allowed us to be next to our younger children.

Very good location but you need to drive at the end on dirty roads. Many activities are proposed, functional rooms. Very good breakfast, lunch and dinner. The children enjoyed horsing along the beach. Many tracks for hiking. The staff was very nice.
The Haven Hotel is set in a gorgeous location, but it is an adventure to get there! The road going in is quite poorly maintained, but despite this it was passable in our 2wd sedan and was worth the trek in - and we only stayed a single night! The beach is lovely and virtually empty, and there are a few good trails in the forest around the hotel. Wish we could have stayed longer!
