The main property consists of the Main Farmhouse and Rooms and NEW Luxury Point of View 11 km from main farmhouse with 3 luxury dbl rooms and its own restaurant.
How to get here? Exit from the Highway A1/B1 is D1499.
The main house and some rooms are build on a hilltop and has a fantastic and unique view. The guest farm has 17 rooms and 37 beds from 1 to 4 star (own rating). From basic chalets ( 1 star), family rooms (2 star) to luxury ( 3 and 4 star). All are located in separate guesthouses and all are individually furnished. So each room has its own charm and style. The chalets are for real nature lovers and are 3 and 5 km from the main farm house. Here you can do (optional) self catering but you have to bring your own gear. The family atmosphere will make you feel at home and like part of this wildlife oasis in Namibia.
In our best rooms, KLS and POV ( 11 km away) are on 4 star level, 2x Felsenhouse, Africa room and Dama house are 3 star. All 4 and 3 star rooms have aircon, a mini-bar and tee/coffee station, Nespresso. KLS and Dama house have a kitchenette. All other rooms have coffee/tea station in the room and are fully furnished and have a patio. New room 5 and 6 ( family rooms) have also since oct 2022 aircon. All rooms have hot and cold water and bathroom ensuite. Family rooms have 3 or 4 beds.
Area Information:We are 50 km north-west of Windhoek, direction Etosha/Swakopmund. Exit from the Highway , A1/B1 is D1499. Distance to the main farmhouse is 18 km from exit point. From Windhoek you drive north on the B1 Highway. After 30 km you take the Exit Okapuka/D1499 another 18km on the D1499 (brown signboard) will take you Duesternbrook Safari Guestfarm. Well signposted. Only 45 min Windhoek and 90 km (90 min) from the international airport,Hosea Kutako. The area is part of the scenic unexpected beautiful Khomas Hochland mountain range. Historically we are next to the old ox wagon road to the coast, called the Bayroad.
Property Facilities:The main house has an outdoor pool ( 10 x 6 m) and POV has an outdoor pool ( 8 x 4 m). At the main house we offer different nature based activities: a leopard and Hippo feeding drive, a game drive with many different species and a scenic early mountain drive and horse riding. At POV on-site we offer only a game drive. All other activities can be done at the main house.We have different well signposted walking trails from 1 hr to 5 hr, a week-end trail to climb the Khomas Eck Mountain 1850m and overnight at the Khomas Eck basecamp shelter. We have 2 campsites. Bush camping and Pioneer Camping. Bush Camping offers with 5 sites with 24/7 electricity ( max 10A), an abolution bloc separate for ladies and gents. Warm water: solar system. A zinc for dishwashing. Pioneer Campsite is an open campsite next to the river with a beautiful view of the landscape. The different sites are much further apart (60-80 m). Electricity is only in the unisex abolition bloc.Light, plug and USB. Warm water: donkie (wood) system. A zinc to was dishes. A shelter for long distance hiking clients.
We have in addition 4 chalets for nature lovers they are 3 and 5 km from the main house at water spots. The chalets are very basic equipped, it is like up market camping. You must your bring your own gear and food. Optionally you can have dinner at the main house. 2 chalets are at the Hippo dam, 3 km from the farmhouse, and 2 chalets at Davidsdraai, 5 km from the farm house. At both chalets you will see constantly see water birds and game coming to drink at the lake.
Our attraction is the beautiful setting of the old colonial farmhouse overlooking a river valley, the distance to Windhoek and the international airport. Our main attraction is the well-known formerly Leopard and Cheetah drive, but now champed to Leopard and Hippo drive.We offer a game drive with many different game species like: Giraffe, Zebra, Oryx, Kudu, Sable antilope, Blue Wildebeest, Impala, Eland...and even Hippo and Waterbuck. Other attractions: the early mountain drive and horse riding which got very popular over the last 2 years ranging now as one of our top attractions. Furthermore: different waling trails, short, long distance and weekend trails. Last not least: it is an authentic farm, no unneccessary glitter and luxury, it is first and oldest Guest farm in Namibia, family run, only individual clients ( no busses), environmental friendly, 5 flowers in the Namibia ECO award.
