Area Information:

*Lake St Lucia (37 000ha) and the Eastern Shores (30 000ha) together comprise the largest estuarine system on the African continent. Lake St Lucia was declared a Natural World Heritage Site by UNESCO protocol – South Africa’s first- on December 1, 1999.

*It is a Wetland of International Importance under the Ramsar Convention. This means that its value as a conservation area extends beyond the borders of the country. It’s a habitat for birds such as the small waders, which breed in northern Eurasia, and migrate to the southern hemisphere to avoid the northern winter.

*It is also of regional importance for duck and other water bird populations, which can survive at St Lucia when there are severe droughts elsewhere in southern Africa. Once the drought is over, these birds migrate northwards to restock the wetlands in Zambia, Zimbabwe and Mozambique

Sunset Lodge Log Cabins were perfect. Well maintained, very clean and well equipped with everything needed in a self catering set up.
We will definitely return sometime.

We absolutely loved our stay! The cabin is so cozy and very well equipped. The views are spectacular and the pool was amazing. We had a very relaxing and romantic stay. The braai area by the pool is perfect for a sunset braai. The host was super helpful and told us about all the good spots in the area. The only thing that disappointed me was that we did not see a single hippo in the entire town and park! They all seemed to be hiding from us. We had a wonderful stay and it was very peaceful, we would love to visit again.

We went to St Lucia Villa Mia 5 to recover after operation. Absolutely beautiful place. Our own private braai area right at pool. Due to my medical condition we could not go out but our hosts arranged food delivery for us from nearly all the restaurants in St Lucia. One night there was guests that were intoxicated and loud. We informed our hosts who in return got the caretaker at the property in minutes and he resolved the issue. Will definitely book again. Thanks to the workers at Villa Mia that were always willing to run and get us something we needed in town. It felt like home and we will always remember our trip. Next time we will definitely visit all the attractions that St Lucia has to offer.
