It is for the true nature lover where you can enjoy the tranquillity of nature, where the stars are brighter, where lion roars, jackal bark, bush babies cry, owl’s screeches and the insects and frogs sing and much more are often heard at night.
Get away from the hustle and bustle of busy city life, enjoy a braai or open fire under the stars with the sounds of the wild surrounding you.
Go on a game drive to search for the Big 5 (spotting all of them are not guaranteed).
Enjoy our beautiful sunrises and sunsets that colour the skies above with a palette of brilliant colours.

The large boma is ideal for when you are a big group camping together that want to sit around a bonfire surrounded by the sounds of nature; it can also be used for a braai or making your own potjies on bigger scale.
Thorn Tree Bush Camp has 2 drinking waterholes that invite a variety of animals, including some of the Big 5 visits from time to time.

Great set up, really peaceful site, perfect place to relax and get away from it all. Close to other places to go out to as well. Even saw a Cheetah just 200m away.
We thoroughly enjoyed the privacy that Elephant Root tent gave us. The tent was spacious, clean, comfortable and offered everything we needed. Thorn Tree is just lovely - a very friendly and peaceful place to spend a weekend away from the city. The bush sounds were incredible and we loved every moment!
Host are very friendly and willing to accommodate you as much as possible.
It was an excellent service from the lady at reception, to the tour guide un till we left. It was our first time camping, so our expectations were completely different from what we got. The elephant tent made us to feel at home.
I took my fiance for his birthday weekend, We had the most adventurous, exciting and relaxing time of our lives!! Great Very clean, quite and a good place to be to unwind! Great friendly staff, an awesome restaurant just across the street. I am definitely taking my family there this festive!!
Our stay at Thorn tree was better that what we expected, we were so surprised and so excited, all our expectations were exceeded.Thank you so much Elzabè & Rodney. we had amazing game drives and an amazing guide, Rodney. we will definitely go back and advise our friends and families to visit thorn tree bush camp
Very nice setting. All fine. Clean and neat facilities
We had an absolutely amazing Easter weekend. Our kids first Camping experience and truly 5 star I must add. The camping site is in immaculate condition and Rodney's sister who was managing the site for the weekend was amazing. We will most certainly be going back. It's a hidden gem and not even an hours drive from Johannesburg, perfect for a weekend breakaway from the city.
As I was in South Africa for my first time and only having the weekend as free time I was so excited to find a Big 5 reserve so close to Jo'burg. The park didn't disappoint with so many sightings and the Thorn Tree Camp was Glamping at it's best. Hosts were fantastic and you really could ask for more. I will be back!
We had the most amazing stay with our two young boys, aged 4 and 6. If you have young children and you want a value for money big 5 bush experience close to Jhb/Pretoria then this stunning camp is your answer.

Dinokeng Game Reserve Reviews
The game viewing on the Mongena game drive was superb!
Fresh air not far from the city and a nice getaway from the hussles of the city .
Great wildlife!
We heard hunting gunshots while we stayed at Hatneesfontein Guest Farm. Ruined it for us. Will not go back there for that reason.
Mongane lodge's game drive was great. Good sightings. We liked the Safari mall where we could purchase some needed stuff. We found the map of the reserve a bit confusing, but overall we really enjoyed the self drive route. There are also a lot of lodges that offers game drives. Some are also open to people who are doing the self drive route for refreshments.
The peace and quiet and the fact that it is so close to Pretoria.
Dinkeng is not as busy as the normal Sanparks reserves.
Halfway There.
An escape from the hustle and bustle of the city!
Close to JHB and close to nature.
