Why stay with us:
Montagu was founded in 1851 on the farm Uitflucht. The first properties, which were sold along Long Street, became small “town farms” and today The Klein Nektar Wine & Olive Estate is one of the most picturesque of these town farms. Built in 1860, this beautiful town farm Cape Dutch dwelling was one of two heritage houses with a cellar forming an integral part of the main house. The property forms part of an important historical and architectural heritage of Montagu. The property developed as the Klein Nektar Farm Cottages and Klein Nektar Luxury Manor Suites. Situated along the very popular Route 62 which links two main cities namely Cape Town and Port Elizabeth has made this 3-hectare town farm dwelling surrounded by the majestic Langeberge a favourite amongst many foreign and local visitors. The Estate is within easy walking distance from restaurants and shops. Take a deep breath and take it all in…….
Farm Cottage Off Grid Self Catering (Sleeps 4) Our self-catering Klein Nektar Farm Cottage, nestled amongst the olive trees, present you with a very different type of getaway. This two-bedroom, one-bathroom fully equipped cottage is off the grid; there is no electricity and no Wi-Fi. Solar-powered lamps, a gas water heater, gas fridge/freezer and gas stove/oven all ensure you have the mod cons to make life comfortable. This charming, privately positioned cottage with farm style look and feel has an open plan kitchen/dining/lounge with a spectacular, deep shaded wrap-around terrace. The combustion stove will ensure you keep warm and cosy on cold evenings. Enjoy a traditional braai in the private garden with stunning mountain and olive grove views.
The Cottage is also equipped with a private “Kol-Kol” wood-fired hot tub, perfect for sundowners on a hot Montagu evening.
Although the cottage is within easy walking distance of all the restaurants and shops in Montagu, it feels as though you are on a quiet farm in the middle of the country… far away from civilization. Lack of electronics will ensure that you rest up in peace. For your convenience, we provide complimentary bottled water, instant & filter coffee, tea, sugar, milk, salt & pepper, one bundle firewood and a few additional surprises. All this is for your own private use (whether you book for 2 or 4) as you will be the only guests at the Klein Nektar Self-Catering Cottage
Klein Nektar Manor House Luxury Self-Catering Our self-catering Klein Nektar Manor House is truly one of a kind; not only “telling” you a story about the rich history of Montagu but also offers you a luxurious home away from home. The original wine cellar with its very distinctive green doors, high ceiling, reeds and tree rafters was converted into a spacious foyer, dining and lounge area. On the one side of the living area you can enjoy a quiet moment, read a book or play a board game whilst sitting in a kudu leather wingback chair with your feet up. The living area is tastefully decorated with handpicked antiques and original oil paintings from Sonja Meyer.
For your added entertainment, the lounge is fitted with DSTV and NETFLIX.
This beautiful Cape Dutch Manor offers two en-suite bedrooms with entrances through 2 private lounges, tastefully decorated with artwork and antique furniture such as the 1800 pump organ. The third bedroom has twin beds and a separate bathroom with shower and a bathtub. The large kitchen is fitted with a traditional AGA stove to be enjoyed on cold winter evenings and a gas stove for comfort. A large stoep area completes the farm kitchen experience with views of the lavender bushes and herb garden. The sheltered patio area is well equipped with a built-in braai and fireplace (boma). Relax under the grape arbor overlooking the olive grove and chardonnay vineyard, sipping a wine whilst enjoying the majestic mountain views. The sheltered patio with outdoor fireplace is well equipped with a built-in braai. You can also take a refreshing dip in the swimming pool or just recline in a pool lounger under the oak tree.

Would highly recommend anyone looking for a farm stay and an off-the-grid experience to stay here. I wish I stayed longer but will certainly come back :)
Klein Nektar is one of the most amazing B&B's that i have ever stayed in. We had the whole house for ourselves including a pool! Kai and Alan are just so friendly and accommodating. I have stayed in many B&B's and hotels in my life and have always stayed in 4 or 5 star and in the world and this rates as the best 5 star accommodation ever. Please visit Klein Nektar it is beyond fabulous.

Beautiful setting, lot of attractions around.
Wonderful atmosphere and most welcoming and friendly residents. A true Gem with beautiful views and excellent hiking experiences. A peaceful and beautiful place with lots of exciting activities for everyone
The tranquility, historical few places, cleanliness and friendly inhabitants.
Came up to Montagu for a climbing course with Blue Mountain Adventures and stayed at the Tolhuis with two friends. It was just perfect. Firstly the location, it was only mere meters away from our first day's location for climbing , LEGOLAND. We could literally stop and walk up to our accommodation for a coffee and lunch break! The place itself was just perfect for the 3 of us. Great little braai area where we enjoyed our evenings and the place is simple and humble yet stylish! The hosts, Michelle, Ivan, and Jason their 6-month-old puppy were just very warm and accommodating. Thank you!
Climbing at Lego Land, Hiking, and cycling (there is a little history town cycle tour).
Quietness and peace.
The beautiful nature. The view of the mountain.
