La La Nathi Country Guesthouse is the ideal stopover choice, situated just off the N3 just outside the historic town of Harrismith in the Eastern Free State Highlands.
Set in magnificent country surroundings this thatched homestead is a haven of peace for the weary traveler. Whether unwinding in our delightful gardens or heated swimming pool during summer or relaxing in front of a roaring log fire in winter, our guests enjoy the intimate atmosphere and personal service and attention which we provide.
Conveniently situated half way between Durban and Johannesburg just off the N3 Highway, makes La La Nathi Country Guesthouse a perfect getaway venue for your next conference or romantic wedding. The Drakensberg mountains, Clarens and Golden Gate are within easy reach.
There are Eleven Units situated in the garden. Seven of the rooms have two single beds, three with a bath and the others with showers. Four of the rooms have double beds, two with showers and two with a bath in the bathroom. All the rooms have TV’s, coffee making facilities, a writing desk, a bar fridge and aircons. These units also have their own little verandahs.
La La Nathi lends itself admirably to being the perfect setting for a wedding. A gazebo in the garden, or our beautiful sand stone and thatched chapel are ideal for wedding ceremonies. The Khumbula Hall can accommodate up to 200 guests and the Pool Room Hall accommodates up to 60 guests. The adjacent bar and sun room provide the perfect setting for welcome cocktails.

What a fantastic venue. Always drove past as assumed it was only a guest house. What a surprise!!!!! There are individual units and they are really high class. It is peaceful and quiet, however you will hear some road noise from the highway, but nothing that detracted from our stay. The unit was very comfortable, clean and covered by trees. We wanted to stay there permanently. The food was also very good and substantial. Sibongele was very courteous and kept our hunger at bay. The gardens and swimming pool were also very good and a sparkling pool, the order of the day. There are different types of units to suit everyone. I would recommend this establishment for an overnight or longer stay. We stayed for 3 nights on a bed and breakfast basis and its awesome. It is close to Harrismith if you need to go to town for shopping.We suggest you shop at the SPAR as it is the better shop to be at. The P&P is a nogo and quite expensive. The unit has all the teas coffees etc, plus a small fridge and TV. Do not drive past, book in and you will not be disappointed.We will definitely be back for a weekend stay as it is close to Johannesburg, and will use it as a stopover to the coast and Underberg, where we travel to a lot. Thank you to the Hosts and Staff for a memorable stay.

We didn't go in to Harrismith. We usually stop at the Engen 1 Stop on our way to the coast.
