Welcome to Madikela Game Lodge.
The MADIKELA Game Reserve is situated amidst the Waterberg mountains, a mere 2 hours drive from Pretoria.
In this Malaria free wilderness, one can experience the wonders of the Waterberg,
with amazing rocky outcrops, which are an unique feature of this reserve.
MADIKELA (Place of the setting sun) is situated on a limestone plateau, which was formed millions of years ago. This limestone, which rests on a granite base has in time eroded, forming the most amazing rock formations. The Waterberg lends it to being the most comfortable bush climate in the Limpopo Province.
Madikela Game Lodge offers accommodation in eight 2-5 sleeper cottages. The cottages consist of either 1 or 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, and a living area with a well-equipped kitchen.
Each cottage features their own solar heated Jacuzzi, a boma with braai facilities, and a thatched deck area for game viewing.
All Chalets have their own warm water splash pools/Jacuzzi's.
Madikela Game Lodge also offers guests a large swimming pool with a baby pool, Jungle Gym, 18 hole Putt-Putt course and a Pool/games room.
A large thatch lapa is available to book with a bar area, dining room and well-equipped industrial kitchen that is suitable for self-catering functions,wedding parties.

We once again enjoyed our stay in the bush. Could have lights during load shedding! Will be back soon
We stayed in Bushwillow cottage and absolutely loved our weekend at Madikela.
The cottage was clean and had everything we needed. There are upgrades in process to accommodate for the never ending load shedding.
The jacuzzi is amazing, clean and well maintained. We loved it!
The reserve is incredible, with little spots all over to sit on a swing chair or picnic over looking the watering hole.
It’s so wonderful to just walk out your cottage and walk off into the distance without worrying about anything and then walking straight into giraffe and zebras! We took a “short walk” that lasted 3 hours and if it wasn’t time to leave we would have just carried on exploring the reserve on foot and bumping into more wildlife as we went!
Will definitely be back to try the other cottages that are more isolated.
Stayed at the Flinstone lodge, what a great experience. Will definitely be back. If you have the time go through to the Lekhalo ziplining just make sure your car can handle dirt roads as it’s dirt road all the way for around 20km. Overall a great experience. Thanks Carol.

Fantastic! It is the most beautiful place! We loved the little winding roads between all the natural vegetation! Amazing rock formations! Lots of animals and birds. The view from Flintstone was good for the soul! The jacuzzi was great! All in all a wonderful couple of days!

It was fantastic, quiet and relaxing. Great wildlife, great hikes and self drives. Accommodation is basic and very comfortable. Very clean.

Lovely game farm about 35kms from Vaalwater and 10kms from Melkrivier, well off the main road. We saw giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, warthog, impala and lots of dassies without really looking for them, masses of birds arrived at our deck birdbath, and we heard other animal calls in the wonderful silence of the bush. The unit was neat, clean and well equipped, bedding was clean and the beds comfortable, kitchen was well equipped and everything worked. Take everything with you - there is no shop anywhere close! Fabulous place, we will be back!
We thoroughly enjoyed out stay in the Flintstone Cottage. It gave us a well deserved break. The views were spectacular and even though we had no electricity due to a massive hail storm when we arrived, it added to the calm and serenity. My only suggestion to the managers would be to proactively inform their guests of the situation and in our case possible provide a couple of bags of ice to your guests for them to preserve their food. The second thought would be to clear the roads of debris after such a storm. I ended up walking in front of the car in order to clear the roads.
Overall a great stay and one I look forward to doing again.

What we had in Vaalwater was amazing! Things that everyone wanna see but my wish is to visit one of the best Lodges in our area which is "Tshwene lodge".
I definitely recommend it, we had so much fun and enjoyed the swimming, fishing and walks around the lodge. Its clean and beautiful. The staff are friendly and helpful. We cannot wait to go back again.
My goodness! What a heavenly place! We booked Eagles Nest and it was everything as advertised and more. Gréât cycling and game driving. The view is just incredible from our beds. The house felt just like home - cosy, inviting, easy to live in. The night skies were magical. Sunrise and sunsets breath taking. Wonderful friendly staff. Thank you!!
