This self-catering lodge which sleeps a total of 10 people offers a home away from home atmosphere, with an outdoor lapa equipped with a modern fire place, king size kitchen, a plunge pool for kids, large braai area and pizza oven. Thaba Tala is home to abundant and varied bird and wildlife, walking and hiking trails and a stream which feeds a dam that flows into the Melk River.
Swings & Trampoline: Fun for the kids, the outdoor activities will keep them busy while you relax under the lapa.

* Main house: Recently refurbished and rich in character antiques and artifacts from all over the world, the main house and garden rondavel offer 4 very comfortable bedrooms which will sleep up to 10 people. There’s an indoor fireplace, lounge area, dining section and a big kitchen. There’s a full bathroom inside and a unique shower place outside for those who want to have the full outdoor experience.
* Rondavel: This romantic thatched cottage is situated in the garden next to the main house. It has a king size bed and has an outdoor shower.
* Outdoor Lapa: Best for unwinding, the lapa is equipped with an indoor and outdoor fireplace, kitchen, plunge pool for kids, braai area and pizza oven.
* Sight Seeing/Game Viewing:
Surrounded by nature, there are so many things to see. From the natural beauty of the Waterburg biosphere, to the animals at the watering hole. At night, the stars come out to play.
* Bird watching:
Observe various birds species in their natural habitat while relaxing by the dam or lapa
* Pizza making:
There is an outdoor kitchen where you can bring your cooking skills to life. There’s also a pizza oven to make your own pizza.
Braai at the Lapa or down by the dam
* Bike riding:
Bring your bikes or quad bikes and enjoy the fun on dirt trails all around the lodge.
If you’re one who enjoys long vigorous walks along bush trails or even up a mountain, then you’ll find Thaba Tala is ideal for hiking. With varied topography, you get to experience various views of mountains, perennial streams, kloofs, towering sandstone cliffs, open savannah bushveld, lichen covered rock formations and a variety of large bushveld trees.
Thaba Tala offers guests a wonderful bush experience. You can go camping out in the woods or set your camp up near the dam.
