Kanon Guesthouse is an overnight accommodation, situated along the N1, for the not so fussy traveler or backpacker that appreciates historic attractions in and around Philippolis.
The guest house offers a choice of rooms for singles, couples or families. Each room is fitted with an en-suite bathroom, fans, heaters and some rooms have kitchenettes.
It is in the heart of the town and within walking distance to all shops and restaurants. Visitors can come and experience the tranquility of the Free State.

We were welcomed so warmly when we arrived at Kanon Guesthouse in December 2023. Our unit was very comfortable and we had everything we needed for the one night stay.
Baie lekker en netjies
We had a very comfortable stay. Unfortunately, we had to work out way around load shedding which negatively impacted out departure time, but I understand this is part of living in this country. Everything was very clean and tidy. Thank you for a lovely stay.
Neat and clean. Enjoyed our stay in Phillipolis.
Gerda went out of her way to make sure we had a wonderful and relaxing stay. We enjoyed braais in the lapa and swimming in the pool. Our rooms and kitchens were clean and well-equipped, offering us all we needed for a comfy stay in this quaint, historic town.
The on-suite room was big and spacious. The staff was very friendly.
Gerda is a wonderful, warm, sincere and friendly host. Such a pleasure to meet her. Although the power was out and there was no cell coverage, Gerda had been looking out for us and came running to meet us as we arrived.
The accommodation was excellent - a cottage! Full kitchen facilities, and a little gas stove in case power was out. Also a paraffin lamp.
A great living area with dining room table and chairs. Comfortable beds.
And the towels!! Made like beautiful swans holding handmade soap.
Spotless and very comfortable .
Next time in Philipolis we would only stay at Gerda, and book for two nights. A little gem of accommodation in a gem of a town.

Interesting, historical, off-the-beaten-track small town to stop over in. Good respite from the busy N1. Artists Cafe highly recommended for delicious simple meals.
