Evergreen River Guest Farm is a privately owned farm on the banks of the Groot Marico River, 9 km outside the small village of Groot Marico, along a 7km farm dirt road stretch. We are situated in the UNESCO approved Marico Biosphere Reserve just 2,5 hrs drive from Gauteng on the N4 Platinum Highway in the NW Province. We are 90 kms away from Rustenburg, 45 kms from Zeerust and 2 hrs from Gaborone.
Accommodation comprises of an offroad caravan/tent camp site suited for maximum 20 guests. Karee River Camp offers offroad/rooftop caravan and tenting stays within 40m of the Groot Marico River (bass, barbel, yellow fish) that flows through the farm. The camp is large and spacious, and set in a beautiful nature spot that offers peace and tranquillity. It is mountain facing with stunning sunrise and sunset views. Hot water is generated by a gas geyser. There is no electricity at the camp, but there is an electrical point 200m away to charge any appliances/equipment. Guests who do not have their own fridges are welcome to use the fridge/freezer in our bar at the main house. There are 2 “camp base buildings” that are under cover and these buildings offer a kitchen area with a double zinc, a table and chairs, shelves to unpack all your goodies, a gas 2 plate burner, gas for hot water, solar lights. Dogs are welcome by prior arrangement at a once-off cost of R100 for the duration stay and this amount is payable to us directly. There is a once-off stand fee of R100 that is payable to us directly. The rates are 0-5 yrs no charge, 6 to 11 yrs R100 pppn and 12 years and up R200 pppn.
There are 3 self-catering cottages, Le Butterfly, Star Gazer and Firefly suited to accommodate up to 16 guests.
Le Butterfly and Star Gazer (sleeps 6 each) have a private splash pool, outdoor firepit, outdoor shower with hot and cold water and mountain facing. Doggy stays are welcome at R200 per dog for a duration stay and this amount gets paid to us directly.
Firefly is a newly built wooden cottage and sleeps 4. Off the grid, sitting, dining and kitchen area are open plan. Spacious with a lovely 180degree view, mountain facing and within 40m of the river. Private splash pool and open built braai. Doggy stays are welcome at R200 per dog for a duration stay and this amount gets paid to us directly.
Come and fish in our river, walk, cycle, star gaze, read, have a picnic at our river or the Groot Marico Eye (30kms away and offers scuba diving and snorkelling/swimming), pick citrus when in season or just enjoy our unspoilt nature and peace and tranquillity.

Our stay was over the weekend of 3 and 4 February 2024. The experience exceeded ALL our expectations. Communication with the hosts was excellent and the clean, spacious and well appointed accommodation at the price was superb value for money. Beautiful surroundings on a well manicured farm next to the Marico river provided the perfect country getaway. Everything was just perfect. Thank you, Lloyd and Gill.
Lynnie and Rob are warm, attentive hosts and we enjoyed every minute on their beautiful farm. The accommodation is comfortable and well equipped and surroundings so peaceful. We hope to be back soon!

We had a very pleasant experience at Evergreen.
Accommodation was very nice. Simplistic, clean and had everything we needed. Loved the mirror with a electrical outlet nearby (something women who have to blow dry their hair would appreciate).
Fishing and floating on the river was lots of fun.
Stargazing at the bonfire was a lovely way to finish each day.
Our children enjoyed exploring the area with their bicycles.

What a gorgeous place, the freshwater river is so close to the guest house along a short easy path and the swimming is fantastic with calm water surrounded by rocks and small rapids. Lynnie and Rob were great hosts, couldn't do enough for us and the house is comfortable, well-stocked and everything worked. Sitting around the fire at night looking at the stars on a clear African night was the best! Please go, it is worth the visit. The roads were not too bad even after some heavy rains.
