Gariep N1 Chalets, are situated in the middle of South Africa, between Johannesburg and Cape Town and 15 kilometres north of Gariep dam on the Bloemfontein side and about 500m from the N1 highway. The units are surrounded by typical Karoo koppies and offers wonderful views of the farm land, karoo plains and great sunsets.
In Room Facilities:There are 2 self-catering chalets available, each sleeping 5 guests. The chalets are spacious and well equipped for all your self-catering needs and offers a private braai area and a porch to enjoy some family time.
A fully self-catering unit, the Barnhouse, that can sleep up to 6 guests, is also available on the premises and is available for the solo traveller, or a big family. Out of season, the twin rooms within the Barnhouse can be booked by guests that need sleep-and-go accommodation.
Area Information:Gariep N1 Chalets is a perfect halfway stop en-route to Port Elizabeth (500 km), East London (450km) or Cape Town (800 km) or Bloemfontein (180 km).

Attractions:Gariep N1 Chalets is a perfect stop over and within 15 minutes you can visit the Gariep dam, the biggest fresh water dam in South Africa, fill up your car with petrol or simply buy some necessities from the supermarket at Gariep

What a wonderful little place. The fact that there are only 2 chalets is nice for privacy and a little bit of peace. It is close to the N1 but that didn't bother us in the least. Very clean chalet and all amenities provided. The fact that it is pet friendly is a big bonus and our dog had an absolute ball with the owners dog, Meisiekind! The staff that are there are very friendly and Martha welcomed us when we arrived.
Would definitely book again if in that area.

It was a great stop over point en route to the garden route - I don't know of anything to do there other than look at the dam.
