The Mautanrho Guest House is an old Victorian three-bedroom Karoo-style home built in 1906, with front and side wrap-around stoep set directly on the roadside. It is nestled in the quiet little Eastern Karoo town of Steynsburg, which was the birthplace of Paul Kruger, State President of the South African Republic (Transvaal) and Marais Steyn, a cabinet minister in the 1970’s apartheid cabinet of Verwoerd and later ambassador to the United Kingdom and the Transkei.

The house consists of three bedrooms comprising 1 x Family Rooms, comprising a queen bed and a double bed, and two Single Rooms with one room comprising a double bed and one room two single beds, and share the house's bathroom comprising shower over bath, washbasin and toilet. All rooms have electric blankets, fridges, satellite TVs, radios or CD players and comfortable chairs for relaxing in the evening. Guests may also sit comfortably in the communal lounge, or on the lovely veranda or back braai stoep.

Tea and coffee making facilities in all rooms and a variety of teas available. The lounge has a DVD player and TV for cosy film evenings, and there is a selection of DVDs available at the house. There are also DVD players in each room allowing guests to watch in the privacy of their room. We provide safe and secure parking behind a locked barn gate. Small pets are welcome, but they are the responsibility of their owners.

Meals are available upon request - a 2-course dinner comprising a main and dessert, and full breakfast comprising fruit juice, variety of cereals/porridge's, fruit and yoghurt, eggs, bacon, sausage and a hash, toast and various homemade jams, tea and plunger coffee.

In the summer, a small pool is available to cool off in on the hot summer afternoons situated in the back garden completely private behind high walls.
