If any place has under-promised and over-delivered, it is Die Kliphuisie. No cellphone reception, no electricity (aside from the solar powered lights), gas fridge, gas plate stove and a donkie for hot water. Perfect quiet and a fish eagle calling down at the river.
Do not expect luxuries. Everything you need to make the stay comfortable is provided, but the real luxury is just being here.
This is truly a place you can just unwind and get away from it all. If you crave connectivity, move right along, because this is not the place for you. If quiet and privacy is what you need, Ronel's number is at the bottom of the page.
Thank you for a fantastic couple of days. We have already booked our next visit.

Loved being back here at our home away from home. Thanks you Kliphuisie for another special weekend away in your cosy cottage by the river!

Spent a few nights there and pure bliss. Away from the rat race, has everything one needs and loved the outside shower where you can watch the stars. Ate figs off the trees in the garden and just too early for the pomegranates. Highly recommended.

Die Kliphuisie is a very special place , with some of the best river frontage on the Sonderend river . The house is comfortable , functional and clean. Fishing is good . LED lights in the bedroom ,bathroom , stoep and living area provide lighting , take extra torches or lamps for back up. The wood fired donkey boiler gives you hot water . One cant help enjoying the feeling of isolation and being close to nature that the cottage offers.
Ronel is an excellent host and goes the extra mile to make sure her guests are comfortable
We will definetly be back.

This place has stolen our hearts! The perfect way to switch off from city life and reconnect with ourselves. Loved everything about it from Ronel's friendly and welcoming hospitality when we arrived to the cabin's rustic and unbeatable setting on the river. Our little one LOVED exploring in the kayak with us to the secret waterfall and all the nature walks and animals. What a special place. Can't wait to come back ❤️.

What a lovely little cottage. You have everything you need and the donkey water system is so fun to use. I must say that we have been all over South Africa and stayed in a lot of accommodation and the Kliphuisie is now one off my top 3.
There is so much to do - and if you do not want to do anything - you can sit at the table in the cottage and look at the river.
We saw a little wild buck in the middle of the road and fish eagle and the farm animals are so beautiful.
The little mountain ridges that surround the cottage looks like a picture.
I am very reluctant to write this review because I want to keep this little cottage a secret.

Kliphuisie was very nice and extremely quiet.
I love the Donkey warm water system and the fact that there is no electricity (except for LED's powered from batteries) which brings you closer to nature.
I could only stay for two days but it was worth it.
Going to Bonnievale, the closest town was also not an issue as it's not very far.

We have officially made this our number 1 place to go and "get away" from it all.
Love everything about this place, even the lack of electricity!

I liked the scenic Tradouw Pass, visited the waterfall, and Die Drupkelder cave.
We had lunch at Diesel & Creme. Very impressed with their food once again.
We also visited Ronnies Sex Shop. Nice novelty pub to visit.

We enjoyed lunch at Viljoensdrift and Catharinas and also having dinner on the private patio watching the sun set over the mountains. The King size bed was super comfortable and the large fenced garden made it very private for us and our scotty dogs.
