Welcome to Arniston and Arniston-Etnas. We have more than 960 self-catering houses and/or flats to rent. We also have 115 houses in L'Agulhas, the southernmost town in Africa. Arniston and L'Agulhas are arguably the most beautiful parts of Southern Africa. Arniston Etnas have been in business for almost 125 years.

In Room Facilities:

Various - Self-Catering Houses and flats available to rent.

Area Information:

Very little is known about Arniston's history prior to the appearance of the first European settlers. The Khoisan people lived along these shores as Strandlopers (Beach combers). Very little remains of their existence here except for the occasional 'midden' of shellfish remains and a few paintings and artifacts discovered in the surrounding area. Arniston derives its name from a wreck, namely the British 'Arniston' which sank here in 1815. Only 6 of the 378 passengers on board survived. Arniston is also known as 'Waenhuiskrans'. Literally translated it means ox wagon cave and takes its name from the huge cave, which was big enough for a wagon to circle in.

Property Facilities:

Various - Self-Catering Houses and flats to rent in Arniston.

Attractions:

Arniston is famous for starry night sky’s as we do not have street lights. The Arniston Beaches have clear rock pools ideal for snorkeling and warm water up to 20 degrees during summer. Hiking along the coast and resting on the memorial benches is a high point. During September whale watching must be added to your list. Arniston is also a well known fishing destination. Watch the local fishermen launch their boats and join in the excitement when they bring home their catch of the day. The Cave, that can only be accessed during low tide, must also be added on your list of things to do.

The harbour and beach is within walking distance. Willeen's Restaurant and Mien's Tea Garden was excellent. We were safe and the locals were so friendly and welcoming.

We stayed at N3 seaside Cottage. What a peaceful break away. We often stay in the big seaside cottages. We would really like to recommend they give each cottage a good deep clean and have a look at replacing the stove tops (N3) was badly rusted and completely cracked. The house was in good shape just really needs very good cleaning after each stay. (spider webs on roofs, behind doors etc).(let it have the smell of a cleaned place).
We will for sure be back soon.
Thank you 👍
