When looking for a weekend break, Castle Forest Lodge is ideally located at a just 3 hour drive from Nairobi off the Kutus-Kianyaga road.
In Room Facilities:Cottages and Bungalows have fire-places and private shower and toilet. Two self-catering cabins have a fully equipped kitchen.
Area Information:The region features a great variety of endemic species such as the lobelias, the senecios or the rock hyrax and has therefore been designated a National Park and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Besides a beautiful flora, the Mount Kenya rainforest offers a large variety of animals. You can see elephants, buffaloes, diverse antelopes and monkeys. Also leopards live here but they are rarely seen. In the open woodland and moorland, you will mainly find antelopes like the bushbock and waterbuck.
There is also an amazing variety of birds (175 species recorded to date). Eagles, ibises, hornbills and parrots are some of the bigger varieties that have made the place their home and yell at the monkeys from the top of the trees.
